    Pros

Compensation is great and opportunity to rise within the firm is endless for those willing to work hard to learn the business.
The people are terrific and extremely willing to help you be successful

    Cons

Traditional search is changing- company structures are flattening, information is more widely distributed than ever, and executives are more entrepreneurial with their careers. Heidrick is adapting to the changes but its too soon to tell what its new role will be in the new search environment.

    Advice to Management

Invest in better information management tools internally to help consultants find and share information on searches, best practices, industries, and candidates

    Pros

Heidrick is undoubtably the best company to work for within the search field. Their brand recognition and excellent execution of searches is unparalleled, and the firm makes applaudable efforts to promote from within. The pay is great. It's a global firm, so one can work from a variety of offices across the globe. The senior leadership includes the best in the industry, and the searches completed are top of their field.

    Cons

It is unfortunate that Heidrick, as a services company, is publicly held. It should be private.

I worked at Heidrick & Struggles full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I worked for Heidrick & Struggles 2 different times and both were highly enjoyable!! The people are great, the work hours are flexible, Heidrick & Struggles is a great place to learn the Executive Recruiting business or expand your skill set.

    Cons

If you are hired on as an Associate it is tough to advance to the role of Consultant; This is primarily due to the nature of the roles; Consultants are rainmakers and need to be very skilled at business development; Associates are candidate developers and as such may not have the business development/sales mindset

    Advice to Management

Make it easier for Associates to advance at least to a mid level role between Associate & Consultant; from what I hear they have already done this and that is great!!

I worked at Heidrick & Struggles full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

H&S offered seasoned mentors and an excellent training program for new associates. Their proprietary database of candidates was excellent, well organized. The location was in the heart of DTLA. This was an amazing experience where I learned the basics for a lifetime of executive search.

    Cons

Political environment, nepotism, long hours, corporate politics, ups and downs, hires and layoffs like any large firm.
