    Positive Outlook

I worked at Heinens part-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Amazing Co workers, most managers are good to work with, awesome company values, great hours, union benefits, clean, safe, weekly pay, rewarded for good work, holiday parties

    Cons

No facial hair, shoes for crews are really uncomfortable, sometimes need to pretend to be busy, but these are all minor things. Really a fantastic company.

I worked at Heinens part-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

      Easy to get hired.

      Cons

Too many managers. No room for growth. Treat entry-level employees very poor. Managers talk bad about employees behind their backs. Stressful environment. Super long hours for young age

I worked at Heinens full-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Great coworkers Somewhat flexible hours Lower management cares about their workers

      Cons

VERY frequently understaffed High turnover means often times you don't get to know your coworkers well before they are gone Scheduling errors mean often times you will have to alter your schedule after it is posted, though they can be accommodating. Fixed point system belittles workers

      Advice to Management

Hold true to your promises, upper management needs a more hands-on approach with their workers, improve organization in terms of scheduling and information flow

      I worked at Heinens part-time

      Pros

If you stay there long enough they have plenty of options for advancement.

      Cons

The unionized structure is good for long term employees, but the union dues coming out of payroll is a negative aspect for new or short-term employees.

      Advice to Management

Management is pretty well run, however giving young employees more opportunities to take on a larger work load would be nice. Also, I think new employees should shadow role model employees during training in addition to the video training program.

      I worked at Heinens

      Pros

they offer time off for holidays. Union labor, friendly staff, Opportunities exist for advancement through the corporate structure.Purchasing discounts

      Cons

A disjointed junior management structure. Staff discount is a long time coming. Difficult to find a way to articulate grievances .

      Advice to Management

On arrival there was no direction offered for matters relating to health and safety. No indication of action to be taken in the event of eg a fire .No fire training ,no assembly points. This was completely alien to my European ideas and experience.Odd.

I have been working at Heinens part-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

Flexible scheduling for students. Compensation was higher than most other grocery chains.

      Cons

Bonuses are based on reviews, so managers have incentive to grade you poorly despite your actual performance in order to improve their own bottom line. Bonuses for part-timers is real small anyway, so would have just preferred honest feedback instead of reviews that make you feel like crap.

I have been working at Heinens part-time for more than a year

      Pros

It is good for a summer or holiday job part time. You make good tips putting peoples bags in their car.

      Cons

You have to do more then one position but get paid the same. Constant corrections buy managers if your hands are in your pockets or you are not smiling.

      Advice to Management

      Pay better!
