I worked at Heinens full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - The management and owners seem to care very much about their employees - Closed on holidays - Good hours - Good sense of team with those around you - Overall relaxed environment, which is unusual for the grocery industry - Good pay

    Cons

No advancement to be had. At all. If you're hired to be, say, a produce clerk... you're only going to be a produce clerk. There's no room for advancement because there aren't enough openings. Couple that with the fact that the company has a stacked bench and it makes it just even more cutthroat. It seems no one is advancing unless someone above has been submarined by someone else. When managers are approached about...

    Advice to Management

Just be straight with your employees - there aren't opportunities for advancement here. Please continue to treat your employees well - no one can take away from you that you are the best in the business at treating your employees well. But at least be honest with them instead of playing mind games.

I worked at Heinens full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-usually easy to get time off -easy work (usually, unless you have a bad manager.)

    Cons

-(Blatant) Disrespect from management. -Bullying from management. -Tendency (at least at strongsville store) to reward lazy workers and expect far too much from other employees.

    Advice to Management

When I worked there in the past all I wanted was for somebody to check up on the status/well being of the department/the employees. Management used a lot of scare tactics too, or tried to assert their power too much. Did not treat employees fairly, according to lots of employees that I worked with. Everybody had the same opinion that the management was very weak. Too much of a punishment based management, not enough of...

I worked at Heinens full-time for more than a year

        Pros

Great coworkers Somewhat flexible hours Lower management cares about their workers

        Cons

VERY frequently understaffed High turnover means often times you don't get to know your coworkers well before they are gone Scheduling errors mean often times you will have to alter your schedule after it is posted, though they can be accommodating. Fixed point system belittles workers

        Advice to Management

Hold true to your promises, upper management needs a more hands-on approach with their workers, improve organization in terms of scheduling and information flow

I have been working at Heinens full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Ideal hours (store closes at 8) “Mom and pop” atmosphere

        Cons

small company means few advancement opportunities HR does very little to help Hard work doesn’t mean a promotion, it’s more “who you know”

        Advice to Management

this company has a lot to work on in the aspects of keeping their employees happy. Having the mentality of “if you can’t do it, we’ll find someone else who can” doesn’t promote a healthy atomosphere
