I worked at Helaba full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice people mostly. Relaxed working environment. Great benefits: dental, medical, vision, 401K.

    Cons

No career advancement. Processes are outdated and systems not user friendly. Poor logic applied and no way of changing that as everything is mostly dictated by home office. Some managers are tyrannical and petty. Some employees utterly incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Stand by your teams and people! If you don't reward good employees, they will go away and you will end up with the worst.

    I worked at Helaba full-time

    Pros

good work-life balance / flexible working hours / high security of employment

    Cons

low prospects for personal growth / unfavourable meeting culture / low individual responsibility, high collective responsibility

    Pros

Superb benefits, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K with match, Merit based bonuses, Xmas bonus
    Mostly nice people
    Challenging and interesting work

    Cons

German head office rules - even if it is stupid, the rule is the rule
    Minimal professional development
Some desk warmers who spend more time on social/shopping activities than work
    Small environment, minimal advancement opportunities

    Advice to Management

German head office management should understand and respect the cultural and work environment differences
Management needs to lose the desk warmers even if they have connections to senior management

    Pros

Helaba's compensation packages are above average in the industry. The bank's presence in NYC is still small - but growing, especially in Project Finance (Real Estate and Infrastructure) and Corp. Finance. Working hours are from 8:30AM to 6PM. The office is completely empty after 6PM. Management likes to throw a summer and a winter party for all employees. Employees are overly social.

    Cons

The bank's group heads are mostly German. There is, like in other banks, conflict between the manamgent. The bank teams very small. Room for advancement is limited.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management is disassociated w/ employees needs at times.

I have been working at Helaba full-time

    Pros

    Nice people
Good work/life balance (well, short working hours)
    Decent benefit package
Job for life if you want it

    Cons

avergae age of employees very high
poor salary-good and bad staff get paid pretty much the same
    low staff morale
    iniative not welcome
Most young staff leave after a few years

    Advice to Management

needs to urgently fix the bank culture. Too many hangers on let stay/better talent let leave

    Pros

9-5 environment that allows work/life balance

    Cons

Dysfunctional institutional thinking. Getting things done is like pulling teeth. Higher performers paid same as low performers.

    Advice to Management

    Stronger senior management. Vision.

    Pros

    Advice to Management

Mehr auf Mitarbeiter hören und vor allem mehr Verantwortung an die Mitarbeiter übertragen. Zusätzlich noch kreativer und Innovationen stärker vorantreiben.

I worked at Helaba full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Eine der wenigen stabilen Banken.

    Cons

Denken in Hierarchien ist sehr ausgeprägt. Konstruktive Kritik ist in der Regel nicht erwünscht.

    Advice to Management

Mitarbeiter nicht nur fordern, sondern sie auch als Bereicherung wertschätzen
