I worked at Helen of Troy full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Great product, great co-workers, nice office

    Cons

This is the worst management team I have ever worked for in my 28 years. They leave employees out of meetings that relates directly to their business or uninvite them to important meetings; They have different rules for different people and those with bad behavior get away with it and I was told to "play nice" when I tried to stick up for myself or provide back-up on what the individual says is not correct; the VP...

    Advice to Management

You need to reassess the individuals on your management team. You need to establish a productive culture because what you have going on right now is called Workplace Harrassment through the bullying, threats, hostility. Employees want to do the right things but if your management does not spend time with the employee to communicate expectations, direction, things they would like to see done, etc., then the employee...

    Pros

There are lots of growth opportunities; people are nice; great employee-oriented activities.

    Cons

Upper management is not approachable. There are cliques, is this high school?

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to be more approachable and listen to employees at all levels.

    Pros

Good benefits from what I hear?

    Cons

Credit floor is worse than High School with lies and jealousy.

    Advice to Management

You don't need four managers in Credit.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Helen of Troy full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Benefits are a plus. That's about it.

    Cons

Depends what department you work for, there is no OT at any time, PTO is difficult to obtain and you feel like you are back in High School. HR needs to be more professional, they will never protect the employee even if it's said it's an open door policy. If an employee raises an opinion or their voice, rest assure that employee will be fired or pressured so much they quit.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to stop favoring managers, VP's or anyone with a higher power. Stop hiring your friends HR!

I worked at Helen of Troy full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    Very nice facility. Great cafeteria.

    Cons

Office gossip and politics made me feel like I was in high school again. There was a lot of back-biting, gossip, and just overall kid stuff.

    Advice to Management

Promote more from within, and provide more training to the office staff. While I was there, I felt stifled and I didn't feel like I could grow within the company. Also, pay more competitive salaries. The job I took right after working here paid twice as much, so I felt like I was severely underpaid while here.
