    Pros

Worked floors, very safety orientated company. Work hard, have a positive attitude, pay attention and keep busy, even with undesirable tasks and you will advance. Lots of time off.

    Cons

Undesirable tasks, working in extreme weather conditions, spending 14 days away from home. Work fluctuates with market.

    Keep up the good work

The people are nice, benefits were very good and you got quite a few payed holidays off, no one micro managed in my department so that was also a benefit. Came in did my work went home

    Cons

Moving up unless you have an engineering background or go work in the field for a long time. Also it was the same everyday, and after a while I just zoned out and didn't feel challenged

I worked at Helmerich & Payne full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This company sets the standard on what a corporate company should be like. I was an accountant here for many years and they ALWAYS treated us with respect. It was a joy working for them.

    Cons

None that comes to mind. The layoffs due to the economy were pretty harsh but that's the reality in O&G.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

I worked at Helmerich & Payne full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent salary
At the edge of downtown so you don't have to drive into the middle of downtown. Finding pros for this company is a stretch.

    Cons

When Hans retired everything changed. They hired consultants to come in to teach how to micro-manage. They say they are family oriented but don't be a single parent and use all your sick days or else it's grounds for termination. They also don't have maternity leave. You have to use your vacation & sick days which is the complete opposite of their "family oriented" company image. Worst HR department I've ever experienced. Communication between departments is non-existent. Loyalty doesn't mean anything to them. Hired way too many people before the oil prices dropped then had to layoff good employees who actually cared about their job because they made too much $. Company spent years building so many rigs but didn't know how to run their business effective internally.

    Advice to Management

I'd give advice but they wouldn't listen. If your name isn't John Lindsay then it doesn't matter what your opinion is.

Nice hours, flex time, vacation and sick time, you can accrue sick time, matching 401k, half day Friday's in the summer

    Cons

Industry can fluctuate as it has greatly in recent years. No maternity leave, traffic to and from work can be hectic
