I worked at Helmerich & Payne full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

This company sets the standard on what a corporate company should be like. I was an accountant here for many years and they ALWAYS treated us with respect. It was a joy working for them.

    Cons

None that comes to mind. The layoffs due to the economy were pretty harsh but that's the reality in O&G.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!

    Pros

good company to work for. 14 and 14 is the perfect routine. they supply the work uniforms and all the essentials

    Cons

really cant think of any detailed ones. management on the local level is about the same no matter the company or rig. relationships of each crew are what makes the difference

    Pros

Great company to work for. Friendly environment and the best drilling contractor in the industry.

It is in the oil and gas business so when oil and gas commodity prices are low cutbacks are a possibility.

Very good iron. Awesome rigs. They spent money taking care of the equipment.

    Cons

Said they weren't going to rehire anyone that has quit.

    Advice to Management

    Rehire good trusted loyal employees

I worked at Helmerich & Payne as an intern

    Pros

Great way to get some hands on experience. Employers even those not in oil will admire the fact that you roughnecked on an oil rig. Also you can't beat the pay and the two weeks off to go spend some of it in between hitches.

    Cons

If you cant handle the heat and working with some rough people (aka you take all things too personally) then this internship is not for you. Go serve someone coffee at an office.
