I worked at Hendrick Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great coworkers
    Up-to-date equipment
    Great nurse:patient ratios
    Good cafeteria food
    Ability to advance career
    Frequent raises in salary
    Adequate training
Phlebotomists for lab draws (apparently that's not a thing a my new employer)

    Cons

Seemed to be a shortage in some equipment at times
I can't think of any other cons at this time.

I have been working at Hendrick Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy with most weekends off. Pay is okay for area in which i live. A lot of nice people working there and easy to get along with most people.

    Cons

Kind of a dead end. They offer opportunities to move up but there really are none. People have worked there 30 years doing the same thing with little to no advancement. The company really does everything to take care of itself first.

    Advice to Management

Stay in touch with employee needs and opinions. There is a very heavy feeling of it's my way or the highway there. If employees don't go along with everything they say they are not hesitant to give someone the boot.

    Pros

    Stay busy, challenging work, benefits

    Cons

Certain cluster management performs unethical acts against people they don't like & is not completely straight forward on paperwork

I have been working at Hendrick Health System full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Wonderful leadership, great benefits, faith-based practice, high expectations for employees, company is growing, long tradition in the Abilene community, high employee engagement

    Cons

None of significance to share. While not every department is perfect, overall, employees get along well with each other and managers address problems.

    Advice to Management

Growing has its challenges, so make sure to plan well, especially when more people are needed.

I worked at Hendrick Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It was a good opportunity to gain skills, great patient interaction, and some floors/ departments had great teamwork. Lots of exposure to new situations.

    Cons

Low pay when compared to similar jobs. Some managers refused to weed out those with a poor work ethic, choosing to keep a 'warm body' instead.

    Advice to Management

Fire the lazy. That's it. Most people would rather work short handed rather than deal with the drama caused by unmotivated coworkers.

I have been working at Hendrick Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Nice co-workers. Great work schedule.

    Cons

Managers don't listen. Hendrick say they care about their employees but they really don't. They'll over work you. Can't really take Personal time off because you have to save them for if you get called off.

    Advice to Management

CARE!!! Don't just listen but actually hear what we are saying!! And TRY!

  10. "cna"

    Pros

good people but short staffed always,

    Cons

short staffed meant overworked quality staff into stressed staff

    Advice to Management

maybe hire more rn/can/tech and pay more in order for them to stay

I have been working at Hendrick Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good culture of caring. Nurses help each other out. Great transition hospital out of nursing school. Orientation is thorough. New nurses are welcomed and appreciated.

    Cons

Mandatory on call once a month on most units. "Flexing" patient-nurse ratio is the norm. The unit isn't full until either one nurse is above the ratio by 1 patient or the charge nurse has 1 patient. Pay is eh. Ok for abilene.
