I have been working at Hennepin County Medical Center (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have worked for HCMC for 16 years and overall enjoy my work there. Staff are fun to work with and I enjoy the patient population they serve. I also like the fact that it is a large teaching facility and enjoy working with the residents. I feel for the most part the nurses are valued at the company.

    Cons

It is a large organization and communication is an issue sometimes. As with most health care facilities balancing financial constraints with desirable staffing levels can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

    Communication, Communication, Communication

I have been working at Hennepin County Medical Center full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great manager that fights for your needs, great team atmosphere. Becomes a working family.

    Cons

Upper level management only cares about their bottom line dollar. No real employee working with patients (the people that matter) is safe. Upper management doesn't relate to floor staff, cleaning dept, kitchen staff etc...

    Advice to Management

Stop talking about patient satisfaction and do something that helps your staff improve outcomes. Care for your employees will increase care for our patients. (increased pt satisfaction)

I worked at Hennepin County Medical Center full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

People are passionate about the mission

    Cons

Dishonest and not transparent about layoffs and attrition of 150 jobs in July 2016. And again with February 2017 layouts. Poor morale and stressful due to poor financial planning for new downtown clinic, top heavy, CEO doesn't seek to understand and reacts too quickly to information. He has little regard for line staff

    Advice to Management

Grow up! Seek information before knee jerk reactions and pointing fingers.
