I have been working at Hennepin Healthcare part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are pretty darn good, even as they privatize.

    Cons

Management will smile, even as they discipline you for something you were instructed to do.

    Advice to Management

I'm not sure why you do it. You re always the first to be cut with layoffs...maybe that's why you've grown so cold. Smiles do not equal transparency.

I worked at Hennepin Healthcare part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team of staff to work with, good pay and benefits

    Cons

Very poor management. Direct supervisor was disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely incompetent. Upper management was unresponsive to staff concerns, and they appear to be trying to weaken the unions during contract negotiations (attempting to cut benefits and pay raises for staff).

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to and work to resolve staff satisfaction issues. Hire and properly train competent managers, and fire bad ones. Provide more training/professional development training for professional staff who are not MDs.

I worked at Hennepin Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Having some exceptional individuals
Convenience of health insurance being through HHC
    Diversity of staff
Cheap all use bus pass though work
Pro and Con- all the hours you could want

    Cons

    Constantly dealing with staffing issues
    Poorly performing staff
    Under qualified staff
Communication to all shifts not consistent
So much work that keeps you from direct care
Ugly/and highly non-therapeutic institutional like setting
A good amount of staff struggle with English comprehension and speaking

    Advice to Management

Value skill and quality of work as much if not more than just a staff that picks up tons of shifts but consistently under-performs or is down right dangerous due to lack of sleep. Get rid of staff (and it is well known who they are) that are a danger to the patient population through.
