I worked at Hennepin Healthcare full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great healthcare if you live in the Hennepin county area, a lot of very passonate people wanting to do what is best for the patient, good collaboration with the service departments. Willing to invest in strategic projects

    Cons

Staffing and resources were always challenging. The facilities are old and landlocked so logistics of supply and service delivery was challenging.

I worked at Hennepin Healthcare (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the staff is friendly and caring, but if you consider your personal health and well being important, don't work in IT. Cafeteria is decent.

    Cons

Toxic culture of bullyism ignored by senior leadership and HR. No work-life balance while working for a healthcare organization! Non-IT people leading IT organization, so void of true thought leadership from IT perspective. Micro-management of daily work. Example: Daily team huddles, Daily Tier 1 meetings, Daily Tier 2 meetings, each and every day of the year AND. Multi weekly one on ones. Cuts daily productivity down big time. No 401k match for non-management staff. 5 years to vest in PERA. (State pension system). Assigned tons of non-position related work. Pay is below industry average. Rude, terse senior management.

    Advice to Management

In order to attract and retain high quality industry talent, stop micro managing staff and ignoring bullies within management.

I have been working at Hennepin Healthcare full-time

    Pros

The people we serve. I would not be here if it were not for the clients. They make my day.

    Cons

There is no value in longevity so don't plan to stay long they do not value that at all. You are easily replaceable. There is also no opportunities for growth. They do not support continuing your education nor to the support learning opportunities.

I worked at Hennepin Healthcare full-time

    Pros

The ability to work in a variety of departments without the same nurses and was appreciated floating to dept to help when staffing was needed.

    Cons

Never enough staff, CNA's etc.... Lots of physical work related injuries due to this fact. Filled out unsafe staffing forms constantly, but they were ignored or circular filed.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate staff to retain positive work environment, hire enough staff for safety of patients and employees. As a county hospital, the $ should NOT always be a factor where upper management is making 6 figures.
