I have been working at Henry Ford Health System

    Pros

Great pay, choose your own hours, plenty of overtime available. Staff on units very helpful and friendly for most part. Four hospitals to choose from in Metro Detroit area. Great way to find a unit you are happy in if looking for a permanent position. Provides small company match which can add up.

    Cons

Smaller hospitals in system tend to cancel your shift quite often. Some equipment outdated in main hospital. Need to keep in contact with staffing over phone to get hours sometimes. There is online scheduling but they are so busy, you tend to get hours you need easier if you call. No ongoing education. Feel left out when there are changes to policies or new products being used because you do not have a set department you are working with.

I have been working at Henry Ford Health System full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good coworkers, managers, and physicians.

    Cons

CTO is accrued hourly at different rates according to longevity with the health system. Lowest level is approximately 6 hrs for 72 hours worked. The problem is that if you work overtime, you stop accruing CTO at 40 hrs per week. So working overtime does not benefit you as far as increasing CTO. You also don't make overtime pay until after 40 hours/week. So the first four hours of your "overtime shift" are actually straight pay.

I have been working at Henry Ford Health System

    Pros

Not many. I am struggling to find any. Big system maybe?

    Cons

Run as fast as you can. The pay is the lowest in our industry, and we rarely get raises. The management is terrible, and have horrible communication skills. They make mistakes all the time and blame it on their staff. The customer service scores are TERRIBLE as well, and doctor communication is terrible. Everyone I know is unhappy and looking for a new job ASAP. West Bloomfield is the worst, and the senior leadership team (including CEO) are incompetent and need to GO. I can't wait to find a new job.

I worked at Henry Ford Health System for more than 8 years

    Pros

great place to work for nurses, management doesn't micro manage, no time clock nazi's. plenty of room for advancement. plenty of learning opportunities at main with high acuity pts. doctors arent a-holes to the nurses and really care what they have to say. have worked at other institutions in metro detroit area and hfhs treats their staff the best hands down imo. sad to leave but had to move away uses epic, has updated equipment on most units

    Cons

Main campus and west bloomfield over all better than macomb or wyandotte regards to staff culture, treatment of nurses. pay is generally few dollars lower than other hospitals in area but its worth it for a better work environment west bloomfield you have to heavily cater to rich pompous families and management lets them walk all over nurses and doctors. no visiting hour restrictions here.
