I have been working at Henry Schein Animal Health full-time

    Pros

Decent benefits. Employer matched 401k contributions to 5%. I have made friends for life with some employees and clients. Helping and healing animals is the end-game. Canine Companions for Independence initiative is great.

    Cons

The motto: do more with less is pervasive. Little care for employees (some department goals still haven’t been given for 2018 and it is half over). Zero cross-training opportunity.

    Advice to Management

The term “you should be lucky to have a job” is not a motivator and unfortunately I have heard it more than once from multiple sources, including once from a member of upper management. There are ample opportunities out there and you should take note the amount of tenured employees who are leaving in droves as a sign this mode of operating isn’t working. Focus internally and not on the next merger would be another bit of advice I would offer.

I worked at Henry Schein Animal Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's base plus commission, so the harder you work the more you can make.

    Cons

It's a low base, so if you don't have a good territory you won't make as much money.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I have been working at Henry Schein Animal Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Potential to make good money. Good industry with good people. Ability to create value to customers.

    Cons

Constant change (commission structure)- not in your favor. A ton of objectives that are not always cohesive. You have to know a little about everything... Very demanding. No expenses other than phone and partial mileage.

    Advice to Management

Goals and objectives can be incompatible. Give employees some expenses.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Henry Schein Animal Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Customers are great, love working with Veterinarians. Sell so many products you never get bored. You really help customers with their needs and the customers appreciate you and treat you well

    Cons

Very long working hours required to actually make this job work and make goal. Realistically you need to work 60-70 hours a week. The stress level is extremely high. Company is disorganized with very outdated computer systems and you spend much of your time dealing with problems. Sales goals are set very high, and if you do not hit them they will treat you very poorly. The new company culture since the new CEO came in has been very negative. Compensation plan changes twice a year, every time so you make less money. 100% commission, very hard to survive if you live in a smaller market.
