    Pros

Hours, day time and medical benefits. Training and updates.

    Cons

Lack of diversity, and promotion within. Bias demeanor by manager. Favoritism for some employees.Racially division.

    Advice to Management

Manager showed a lack of unfairness and lack of recognition with some employess.
Poor judgment in work ethics, no equality. If you are hire for a specific job, then you are used for another, that is wrong!
If you are a Credit Rep... the manager instead makes you do the job of Administrative Assistant.. then calls it " training". Too many managers are covering for one another, so the pattern continues and no
changes are done... the powerful stay in power... the little guy .. just quits or go else where... That's the choice.

    Pros

The best reason to work for Henry Schein? NONE!!!!!!!!!

    Cons

    Downsides? EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
Management treats people like they are tiny ants that they can just walk around and step on. Compensation is a joke. I was layed of from a similiar company and was paid $20,000 more per year. They are not even close to being competitive. They offer a very low hourly wage and then a commission structure that is impossible to track by yourself, so you have no idea what you are going to make. For inbound reps, you get a very insulting $10 hour. I can make more flipping burgers at In-N-Out. The commission isn't a percentage of what you sell. You are paid a small percentage of a pool that they decided how much goes in, then based on about 7 different factors they decided what percentage of that pool you get. Outbout reps get a low hourly wage and a percentage of what they sell. Then the company deducts what you made hourly from your commission dollars. Fair? Not even close. For both inbound and outbound reps vendors have spiffs that you can work for, which Henry Schein takes full advantage as a reason it won't pay people anything. The vendors may add an additional $100-$200 (before taxes) to your commission check, which is paid once monthly. Fair??? No!!!!!!!!!
Time off is also figured out in a way that only management can track, and you have to put in a request to see how much time you have. Even though they have the ability to let you know how much time off you have accumulated on your check, they refuse to do this.
The company is a revolving door, a lot of turnover.
And their open door policy is a one way door out on the streets. I have overheard many people looking for something else. No one is happy, you feel like you are chained to your desk and not allowed to speak.

The ordering system they still use is the really old AS400, which is extremely limiting and time consuming. Policies have been changed multiple times in the same day. Communication is non existent. You usually find out about a policy when your being reamed for doing something wrong.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people like slaves, and start compensating people fairly and for what they are worth.

    Pros

The benefits are wonderful medical, dental, vision.

    Cons

Backstabbing, trash talking employees and worse even the managers are horrible. Managers spend more time smoking and gossiping than working on real issues in the office. Managers allow certain employees to say or do what ever they want and other employees have to sit back and take it. I am suprised there has not been a lawsuit yet at the call center. The HR department is a joke. Ask the HR department for information and you might get it back two months later if they have not lost it.

    Advice to Management

Replace all of your managers in the Reno, NV call center with competent college degree holding managers. Same for your warehouse in Reno, NV. Take some time and send in a mole to see how much time is being pissed off on your dime. You will find it is far more than you think. Check the internet use and see how many e-mails are for personal business, especially in outbound.

    Pros

Local branch people are great, friendly and helpful. The health insurance is well thought out and home office stall are good to help with cliams.

    Cons

Your daily appoinments are set by someone across the country with no knowledge of the distances involved, then you are blamed for too much drive time. They set up a communication system that doesn't work, and grip they can't reach you. The retirement match is given in company stock.

    Advice to Management

Let the people you hire do their job, if they don't fire them. Stop hiring employees just to have someone to blame for your dumb ideas.

    Pros

It is a Fortune 500 company
It is located in Melville, Long Island, wich is a relatively quiet town
The building is superbly clean and equiped with state-of-the-art facilities

    Cons

    Office politics is high
The level of hypocrasy is unbelievalbe and even repugnant
Most employees do not know what their position entails, so they don't know what they are doing. They are more inclined to blame other employees behind close door.
Upper management does not clearly state a new employee's performance in order to guide the new employee, but just lets go of the employee

    Advice to Management

Talk to the new employee about their performance. State what the Management likes and dislikes about their performance.

Decrease the level of office politics.

Stop being hypocrits. You have power, so be candid with new employees.

Listen to what a new employee has to say to improve business strategy

Do not fire an employee with no explanation

    Pros

Decent hours, and the benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

The politics within this company are intolerable. Advancement opportunities are non-existent. I was offered a second shift supervisor position.....the catch....no job title and no pay increase, just the differential for moving to second shift. Seriously?!?!?!?!?!
There are no education or training programs available. The starting pay is very low and annual increases even with a good review are very low usually 1-1.5% increase. Production floor supervisors are unorganized, unprofessional and a few are unqualified for the position, this goes back to the politics.
Very little, if any, feedback or updates from the supervisor. Most of the time I found out about upcoming orders etc. from other departments. Constantly having to deal with attitude and rude remarks from my supervisor.

    Advice to Management

Get it together and act like professionals!

I have been working at Henry Schein full-time

    Pros

    Good life and work balance

    Cons

Managers have no experience in management, territories are soft so you have to fight over accounts with other reps either outside or tele. Management does not follow through with plans, throw you out to the wolves when you are hired. Poor training program. Your voice is not heard.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers that know the products their reps are selling, managers should know how to manage their team and be supportive, as well as know the sales process and key decision makers that reps should turn to in certain situations.

I worked at Henry Schein full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Bad salary, over work and many willing to stab you in the back so there are no pros

    Cons

Raises were always no more than 5% and usually 1% and sometimes zero company wide. Employees are asked to spy on each other and management pushes beyond human levels in order to earn their bonuses. When positions are eliminated the responsibilities are just added to another making that person have double and triple work.

    Advice to Management

Try honesty for something new. The climb to the top is not worth your soul. Learn to appreciate dedication and grow up as selfishness is for very young children.

    Pros

hard working people at the D.C. level

    Cons

Corporate is corrupt and greedy. They create a culture where management is trained to belittle and dehumanize the everyday worker.

    Advice to Management

Not one person in management cares about anything other than their own salary and bonuses created on the backs, sweat and labor of the employees.
