I have been working at Henry Schein full-time

    Pros

A few nice people, professional atmosphere, amazing immediate boss.

    Cons

Most people aren't very nice, no team atmosphere, feels like everyone is out for themselves, backstabbing among "team members", upper management has an "us vs. them" attitude, no training, you're supposed to learn everything on your own, HR has ZERO contact with employees after a very weak onboarding the first day, and cannot answer the simplest questions (such as "when do I...

    Advice to Management

Offer trainings to employees, don't make employees feel like they're replaceable at any time, offer lunch & learns so employees can understand what HS is all about and can see how they're hard work makes a difference, make HR come out of their offices and be more approachable and proactively work with employees so they don't feel like they're on their own.

    Pros

I cannot find 1 redeeming quality. Oh wait cake- they sometimes have cake in the break rooms (left over from a party you weren’t invited to) If you don’t like cake then it’s not a “Pro” In all fairness there are a few managers that are excellent but they are probably not in the department you are applying for because their staff actually stays and doesn’t turn over.

    Cons

The culture they sell is a bold face lie- don’t buy it. The company is run by all male former accountants (not sure if that’s good or bad- good if your a male accountant / bad if your female). Medical is a hot mess- no one is on the same page ever and everyone pretty much dislikes everyone else Most middle and upper management has been there 10-25 years and they have not...

    Advice to Management

Quit- you’ve been there too long. This company is inhibiting it’s own growth and development due to its own ignorance.

I have been working at Henry Schein full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great co-workers; great benefits; training; great employee appreciation activities.

    Cons

Upper management micromanages; PTO not enough; employee retainment low; and salary below market and no annual raises, only raise with advancement.

    Advice to Management

Don't micro manage like it is a call center; people who are already high-performing do not need it; Pay employees in DFW more--your current hiring salary does not even meet the lowest levels of pay standards in the market

I worked at Henry Schein full-time

    Pros

Many of the people here are very friendly and eager to teach you. Most of these people are non-management. Wonderful commitment to the community via various outreach programs. Benefits are ok.

    Cons

Most of management is not a meritocracy, but rather a good ole boy club of who has been around before the company went public. This company lacks diversity. This is ethnic diversity and female leadership, which they are slowly bringing on board. Look at their executive team. Many in upper management (mostly all) are whites males, which isn’t reflective of our society. No true...

    I worked at Henry Schein

    Pros

The company is widely recognized and has the distribution centers across the country to give them a huge competitive advantage.

    Cons

The company is huge, Wallstreet driven, and upper management is only concerned about making sure they don't get reassigned or laid off.

    Advice to Management

Invest in a better CRM and value your employees because the competition is heating up and customer relationships will be vital to maintain market share.

    Pros

Overall, top leadership is good (3 stars). Pay is semi-competitive. Benefits are pretty good although not for a tech company. Culture is reasonably good and unified. Employees are friendly, easy to get along with. Some are there for life. Stability of company and its growth is consistent. Great new building, far better than the old one. Nice cafe and reasonably priced lunch perks. Company parties, giveaways and...

    Cons

There is a festering corruption that exists within the organization which is exposing its market leadership to loss of market share. A change, from the top would help cure some of it, perhaps all. Some top leadership are good people with skills, talent and willing hearts but enough of the right people are blocking true progress through bad vision, bad choices, lack of leadership, or bad advice. Some leadership is...

    Advice to Management

Shake it up. Stop doing things the way you have. Align the business to act like a tech company that has real improvements, innovation, and some wins for the organization. Make it a fun place to work by getting some really good wins in the market. Customers want three things 1. Quality - 0 variation in product performance from the customer's expectations, every time they use it. 2. Rapid Response - why wait weeks...

    Pros

Great Benefits, Well Maintained Buildings, Buildings seem secure and safe

    Cons

No professional development, HR department seems to lack knowledge of policies, No room for advancement or growth, upper management tends to promote themselves while forgetting the little guys, very hard to move to another department

    Advice to Management

Do not forget the youthful employees are the future of the company, need to develop more ways to grow within the company, don't forget the smaller positions that help run departments. I have seen plenty of young people come and leave within less than a year.

I have been working at Henry Schein full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Employees are a great group of people for the most part. TSMs consider each other family. Large company on Long Island.

    Cons

Low pay for a lot of responsibility. Upper management unconcerned with employees. Inflexible company. No work/life balance. Unwilling to make changes to make employees happier and more satisfied.

    Advice to Management

Be more concerned with treating your employees like people and not just worker bees that contribute to the profit and bottom line. Schein claims to have a fantastic culture, yet most employees are unhappy, underpaid and overworked. Giving employees more flexibility is the future and the way to have a truly happy culture. Denying them these changes and flexibilities is the quickest way to lose good talent and stifle...
