    I worked at Herbalife part-time

    Pros

Personally I loved helping people who wanted to lose weight. I just use to make shakes for them but I loved it.

    Cons

We would have customers that had an attitude and it was hard to keep my mouth shut but that’s pretty much it.

I have been working at Herbalife full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Above average PTO and perks; free products in pantry, onsite gym, subsidized cafeteria, company sponsored events, good 401K, ok health plans, company anniversary celebrations, discounted product to purchase, monthly birthday celebrations.

If you are buddy-buddy with your boss you can get far.

Advancements and promotions are based purely on appearances and how good you are at brown nosing, not the quality or quantity of your work. If your work ethic is poor, you lack basic skills and have no relevant experience but you are great at schmoozing and kissing butt this is the place for you!

    Cons

Promotions are dished out on completely frivolous reasons and empty “achievements” and are only based on your relationship with your superior. Ex. The superior has a handful of favorites, only they receive additional training or additional ‘responsibilities’ that lead to promotions, this it true across every department, not just the one I worked at.

Pervasive racial bias so blatant and obvious it is essentially illegal discrimination and racism, exp: An Asian higher up for 2 years only hired and promotes employees of Asian descent, a Filipino higher up hired 5 out of 5 Filipinos to her group, an Indian only promoted those who are Indian, this pattern persists across all departments, HR is either complacent or completely asleep at the wheel.

If you try to advance or move departments your direct management will retaliate against you by denying any future promotions and scheme behind your back to make sure you can’t move, your only available option is to leave the company.

    Advice to Management

To low/mid-level management: Stand up for yourselves and your people when upper-management asks the impossible treat your employee with dignity and respect, we are people just like you, we all have families and ambitions.
It is an embarrassment and creates resentment when you promote the same people over and over again when others are the true backbone of the company or department.

To upper management: Your audacious corruption will eventually come to bite you, so start packing now: Denying training seminars due to “budget constraints” but then in then taking trips oversees, costing the company tens of thousands, when video conference call would have achieved the same result. At other companies this type of corruption results in prosecution and jail time not just termination, but at Herbalife its business as usual.
