I worked at Herbalife for less than a year

    Pros

Healthy, wellness focused company culture, has on-site gym, free nutrition, protein shakes and supplements at work. On-site cafeteria, menu is okay not too expensive. Nice lunch room and pantry area. WFH benefit for the full times, which is great work/life balance.

    Cons

Hourly rate is relatively low compared to internships at other companies in the LA area but the experience was worth it. Does not offer internship extension, little to no chance for full time offer after the internship.

I worked at Herbalife full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great benefits -- particularly for those who display longevity in the company, high pay for the title, comfortable chairs, and air conditioned offices.

    Cons

Abuse of employees with a high work ethic, severe sexism, little to no tolerance for work / life balance for employees (for management, however, it seems to be highly encouraged), low pay for the hours worked, refusal to promote employees (in my almost ten years there, not one person was promoted in my entire department).

    Advice to Management

Honestly, the abuse of employees with a high work ethic, has merely worked in management's favor. From a business perspective, it makes little sense to advise they change it, unless they care about the suffering of their employees (which... they don't, but they should.). The sexism is something that might come back to hurt Herbalife in the end, so I'd probably advise they work against it, at least on paper (which they do masterfully with workshops, discussions, etc., but not in the actual thick of things). I would, however, highly suggest promoting people, particularly if they have worked there almost ten years. It's literally the simplest (and in the end, cheapest) way to inspire employees... and to keep them around.

I have been working at Herbalife full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Pays well. Gym on-site. Good health plan. 401(k) matching. Some nice people. Free product. Cafeteria.

    Cons

No work-life balance. Too many ineffective and abusive managers whose skill set is managing up. Very political. Wrong people are hired and promoted. Many unhappy people who are looking for another job. Morale is terrible.

    Advice to Management

Fire abusive managers. Invest in employees. Stop rewarding suck-ups who are terrible at their jobs.

I have been working at Herbalife

    Pros

competitive pay, never boring, opportunities to learn new things, free Herbalife products in kitchen

    Cons

commute to Downton LA office is unbelievably bad unless you live close by, disorganized, indecisive, constantly changing management, too much work and not enough staff to handle so most are constantly overworked, with workload and commute time there is no work life balance

I have been working at Herbalife full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Most people are really kind and super friendly in general. I know not all departments have it but work from home flexibility is good. Decent pay and benefits. Cafe in the Torrance office is good. On site gym is small but not bad. My department has good work life balance.

    Cons

Now as far as the working environment, it is highly dysfunctional and disconnected. Poor leadership in middle management. As nice as some of them are, there are far too many of them that are completely clueless. Many business processes are behind the times. Each day is a lesson in futility but hey people like the products. It is not a place for the youth, career growth, or staying up with industry standards (at least not in the functional business areas).

    Advice to Management

None, they don't take advice internally so I am sure they aren't checking here. I take that back, they will take your advice but then do absolutely nothing with it.

I worked at Herbalife full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay is competitive Benefits for full time employees are competitive Free protein shakes and healthy snacks

    Cons

Management lacks consideration of employees and will expect you to work on your days off and sick days NO work life balance in various departments Company is consistently in legal issues, meaning there is a lack of job security Employee turnover rate is a major issue causing dysfunction

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with the same respect your senior distributors receive. Listen to your employees recommendations and conduct proper exit interviews to find out why the employee's leave Stop trying to restructure the company by cutting costs Enforce the companies mission and values internally, your employees are your most valuable asset keep them healthy and happy
