I have been working at Herberger's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful management and in store staff. Great benefits! 10 days of paid vacation for full time and you get more vacation days the more years you work.

    Cons

Mis-management at the corporate level, especially with our coupons and sales. Frequent changes to scheduling of whole store. Schedules not given out until the day before the schedules start.

    Advice to Management

Management on the corporate level should look at sales to maximize profits. scheduling hundreds of employees to come in early several times each week to change sale signs in not cost effective.

    I worked at Herberger's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interacting with customers. Developed friendships with some coworkers.

    Cons

Managers showed favoritism to certain employees. Store always looked like a disaster during/after big sales (which were ongoing). Need fitting room attendants! Hours could be ridiculous, especially during the holidays.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees fairly and respect the hard work they do. Tell corporate that the store does not need to be open until midnight during the holidays. There was not enough customer traffic to warrant the need for this. The pay should also compensate the hard work and hours that are required. Employees should be scheduled a rotating shift for days/nights so everyone is required to work a closing shift.

    I worked at Herberger's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work in retail and I have met some amazing people, of course through the 2 years that I've been working there a lot of them have quit. Everyone that works there is extremely nice with exception to a few but overall the environment was great.

    Cons

Of course working in retail is always awesome, with any job it gets repetitive and tiresome. Customers can get a little obnoxious at times and even employees sometimes have no idea what they're doing which can get infuriating.

    Advice to Management

If I were to give any advice it would have to be to fire the people that don't do their job properly or simply Don't care about working.

    I worked at Herberger's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers- for the most part are fabulous! Retail has challenges in scheduling, but they try hard to meet legitimate request for flexibility.

    Cons

Working holidays. As always with retail, some coworkers are willing to take advantage and do as little as possible to help customers.

    Advice to Management

It’s hard to find employees that are reliable - keep trying!

    Pros

Awesome coworkers. Meeting lots of people. Being first to see new merchandise. Employee discount. Decent pay. Good place to start in retail.

    Cons

Expected to do much more than time allows. Not able to offer good customer service because of other duties. Shoplifters.

    Advice to Management

Need to engage more with customers
