With the downturn in the Oil and gas industry, this business has gone down hill.

    Advice to Management

Be more open with employees about the state of the company. Everything went downhill quick.

Very enjoyable to work for and have no complaints, this is the only company I work for that gave everyone a severance package when they were laid off.

I have been working at Hercules Offshore (More than a year)

    Pros

Hercules is a great company to work for offering great promotional opportunities, flexible schedules and great benefits. Easy to make a contribution and see your hard work make a difference.

    Cons

Due to the downturn of the industry and company profits the company has become unstable and has led to mass lay offs in the recent year.

    Advice to Management

Majority of management are great mentors, let you choose how involved in the company that you want to be. If there is a skill you would like to learn they make it easy for you to get the exposure you thrive for.

I worked at Hercules Offshore full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Publicly traded company, but feels like a small business when it comes to taking care of their people. Management has strong financial acumen. Foresaw O&G down cycle and were able to restructure the company successfully. Benefits are above average. (Matched 6% 401(k)) when oil was above $60/bbl.

    Cons

Not very good communication when it came to promotions, people in new positions, people leaving. I didn't see enough recognition to the employees.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your people, even for the small things. And then remind them to recognize their people.
