I have been working at Hercules Offshore full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture is good in comparison to Big Four and people are willing to help. Top Execs are approachable. Lots of opportunity to learn for a staff position. When the market is good the Company gives various gifts/prizes/raffles: coolers, mugs, gift cards, kits, gym bags, bags, etc. They also have company events to keep up morale like employee appreciation day (stuff your face with Mexican food till youre in a comma), Christmas party (during lunch and they raffled away electronics, gift cards, etc), company family picnic party (more gifts), Town-hall meetings and free pizza afterwards, etc. four weeks PTO.

    Cons

Not financially stable. Filed for bankruptcy. Lay offs. Financial reporting department leaned out with no plan to replace people. Lots of overtime. No raises and bonuses were meager. Managers are good managers but under conditions stressed and its hard to plan PTO in advanced. Work plenty of OT during busy periods and some month close and get no compensation yet see other departments have minor lay offs and leave after completing 40 hrs/week. Sometimes you can expect OT other times managers fail to warn you till its apprx 4 pm and then you find yourself stuck at the office till 8pm (if you're lucky) and no dinner. Don't expect a meal on the company's dime for 10+hrs of daywork in this bad market.

    Advice to Management

I liked this company until the market went south and things started falling apart. My advice is hire a better marketing/contracts group! When things were good the company had issues getting contracts for major rigs. Now that things aren't good the company is hurting worse. Also, dont take on so much debt!!! Monitor positions because some employees work more OT than others yet you lay off people in the department that already works lots of OT.

I worked at Hercules Offshore full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay. Traveled the world. Worked with a lot of good people who would do anything for you.

    Cons

Worked in places I never wanted to be in. Worked with too many people who spent their time keeping their knife sharp so they could plant it deeply in your back.

    Advice to Management

You should follow the path of integrity. The path to ruin is paved with half truths from specious employees.

I worked at Hercules Offshore full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hercules at least will not make high demands before expecting a full commitment on writing JSA's, Work Permits, Crane Inspections and other forms of documentation.

    Cons

A lot of special treatment for certain personnel. They don't train well on the job.

    Advice to Management

At least give the mates some experience that is not job related before expecting them to break out.

    Pros

Steady work, good benefits. Company worked with you for the most part when you needed them.

    Cons

Liftboat division carried drilling division but still got less perks. Sold liftboat division. didn't care about employees as much as they made it seem.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of higher ups taking all the money and not doing anything productive with it

    Pros

Good pace. Never micromanaged. Know for family values

    Cons

Narrow minded executives with no long term strategy to improve market penetration.

    Advice to Management

Assets are way to old and they cost a fortune in maintenance. If they come out of this bankruptcy, sell, sell, sell!

    Pros

they are good fair company. Provide clothing boots and hard hats. Decent reward point system. Provides training great way to enter oil field

    Cons

they require lots of paper work and are quick to fire after accidents and has a poor human resources department

    Advice to Management

really really need to be a little more in touch with the workers out in the field and in the Houma yard
