    Pros

Flexible work schedules, and team members will always lend a hand if needed.

    Cons

They do not reinstate some of the perks that were removed in the early 2000's because of cost cutting measures. 2.2 billion in sales and years of service bonus is stuck where it was back then. New hires do not get this "perk"

    Advice to Management

Listen to what is being said, not to whom is is being said by.

I have been working at Herman Miller full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It pays well, the staff are nice, it's not a hard job, third shift isn't as bad as everyone says it is

    Cons

They don't actually hire enough people, they have more temps than actual hired in employees! They go through temporary employees through Adecco. Even if a temp has been there a year they won't just hire you in!

Instead they bring in a new temp to take your place. So they constantly bring in new temps instead of hiring.

When one temp is done in comes a new temp, then when that temp is done they bring in another new temp to replace the other temp. It's a sad cycle never hire only use temps!!!

    Advice to Management

Hire in more people especially temps!!! This is to the Spring Lake, Herman Miller on 171st

I have been working at Herman Miller full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

When I joined Herman Miller, it was known as the best culture, most innovative and most employee- centric company in our industry and maybe the world. They are still known for beautiful design and environmental responsibility.

    Cons

In past couple years, the company culture has shifted and morale plummeted. The focus on the living office seems to be outward facing only and doesn't seem to apply to the employees. Leadership doesn't seem to notice the brain drain that is happening due to people not feeling valued the way they used to.

    Advice to Management

The CEO seems shielded from whats happening with employees. It would be great if Herman Miller took time to reexamine what historically made them a great company and try to resurrect the culture and practices that made them a former Best Place to Work.

I worked at Herman Miller full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Legacy, history of exceptional products, culture, and leaders. Momentum that carries them despite current generation of leadership. Affiliation with Eames has carried them far.

    Cons

Current leadership isn't up to the task of tending, let alone improving, the legacy of Herman Miller. Arrogant, myopic, and more concerned about the sizzle than the bacon. Ask yourself... when is the last time Herman Miller did something truly great? 1995?

    Advice to Management

Retire... find some worthy successors who can refocus on what made Herman Miller special
