    Pros

Fun place to work. Free ice cream.

    Cons

Very busy at times and stressful. If you can't keep up, you won't be able to make it. Good positive management. Very approachable!

    Advice to Management

Maybe some more full time workers.

    I worked at Herrell's Ice Cream part-time

    Pros

Great ice cream, good work staff, decent tips. The employees have good energy. The hours are pretty good.I really enjoyed interacting with regular customers and for the most part people were really excited to be getting ice cream, which is great.

    Cons

Understaffed on most nights, aggressive management that fairly frequently harasses and intimidates employees through direct and indirect means. It's unfortunately a workplace that seems friendly and accommodating on the outside, but the "behind the counter" culture is strict, disrespectful, ignorant of disability accommodations, and an inability to take the blame for issues relating to poor management. These include last minute scheduling and a lack of stock and rotating ice cream flavors, and no clear lines of communication between the employees and the management. The only line of communication to the owners is through the sole store manager, who, before this job, has never worked a management position. Due to the lack of experience when the manager experiences difficult circumstances, they would take the frustration out on the employees; thus creating an unnecessarily hostile environment for the employees. In addition, they don't pay overtime for the few employees who manage to get scheduled for over 40 hours. The labor laws and regulations are posted in the freezer room, making it difficult for employees to know their rights as employees.

    Advice to Management

Actively try to create a safe environment for employees to talk with the management, post labor laws in a clear and visible place, pay overtime. The management should not talk with the employees during their work hours to talk about policies or personal matters. When disciplining or firing employees, it should not be done in front of other work staff and customers.
