    Pros

    Good sense of community, fun co-workers. Free sodas, coffee, tea in the corporate office, happy hours, beer cart. Nice office

    Cons

    Can be intense at times. Long hours depending on your department.

    Try to keep people around who are committed to the company and who really want to work there, and who enjoy it

    1. Opportunity to grow- The company usually promotes form within, so if you prove yourself you shouldn't have any problem moving up.
    2. Supportive environment- You do get a lot of support from co-workers and supervisors

    Pros

    Hersha is a great organization. I have found them to be fair, supportive and driven by the human factor of our business. Unlike many hotel management companies, they get that to be successful you have to take care of your people and they will take care of you. They are evolving with new ideas and strategies to engage the team, assist them with learning opportunities and growing the company which provides for advancement for worthy members of the Hersha team. At Hersha we can never say we are not provided the tools to do our jobs.

    Cons

    Insurance is as high for families and spouses, but reasonable for the team members

    Advice to Management

    Find a way to get better insurance rates for employees families

    Pros

    Discounts at company owned and affiliated properties

    Cons

    Deluded leadership. Basically a collection of sub standard hotels in prime markets that can't compete. Extremely high turn over - executives in the home office with inflated titles- and a dysfunctional and caustic culture. Leadership trying to sell and position subpar properties with the "elite". Small core of "old timers" that can't be trusted. A publically traded company that is run like a family owned business. This is not a place to build and grow a career.

    I worked at Hersha Hospitality Trust (Less than a year)

    Pros

    It was a job. Only some of the employees were ok.

    Cons

    This company reminded me that I can do alot better. The pay is not competitive, there is no growth whatsoever - the head of my department even told me. There is no training at all except for the GM''s who go away once a year. People are quitting left and right and the senior level teams,say it's ok. The benefits are horrible. Overall, they company doesn't care about the employees. Don't apply unless you are desperate for income.

    Advice to Management

    Words can't describe the amount of training needed. Make the investment in your employees. Communicate and get competitive wages.

    It's easy to move up if you show that you're worthy and want it

    Cons

    Understaffed and under appreciated. There aren't enough people to get the job done and then the pay isn't so good on top of doing the work of 4 people

    Advice to Management

    Spend more money on staffing if you want to be considered upscale so that you can provide an upscale experience

    Pros

    Laid back atmosphere, business casual. Most employees and middle management are down to earth. Great place to gain experience and leave because pay/benefits are extremely poor.

    Cons

    Partner's heads are in the clouds, an astonishing turnover rate by all levels of employees from Directors of Finance to Staff Accountants. Owners refuse to be competitive in terms of pay to keep talented/driven individuals, yet drive their brand new $200,000 sports cars to flaunt to the employees. Health insurance & retirement plan basically non-existent. Overall a gross imbalance when it comes to owners to employees. Rampant nepotism in the corporate culture: a family member of the owner gets almost triple what a regular employee makes.

    Advice to Management

    Take an inventory of what works and what doesn't. Get rid of what doesn't and reward what does. That may mean not buying a new Bugatti every year, but you would have a much stronger company.

    Pros

    Workspace situation is great not cramped into a little cubicle... senior executives are only arms length away and can be accessed about anything.

    Cons

    they expect you to stay late even all the time even yhoigh they won't say it. Some supervisors put on a fake face and will won't tell you the truth.

    Keep everything open and honest. People appreciate truth
