I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay with 4 year degree and 10hr/wk of overtime. Weekly paycheck. 50 hr work week. Get to drive cool cars sometimes.

    Cons

Exhausting hours. Angry customers due to lack of cars. Impossible sales goals by ethical means. High turnover rate! Cooperate af. Rent in a dirty car is a durable offense. Management expects customers to wait until we can have a clean car ready.

    Advice to Management

There's no hope of improving without meeting the supply of cars with the demand and changing the corporate model.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Cool position title which looks good on résumé
40% discount on rentals for friends and family.

    Cons

There are 3 more position before you're an actual Branch Manager. It's unlikely that you'll make the stated "$35,000". If your location doesn't have a VSA (a designated person to clean cars) you'll be doing it yourself normally outside in business casual clothes. Hourly pay, and no more monthly incentive bonus. The pay isn't high enough for the type of work you'll be doing.

    Advice to Management

Train the BMTs a little bit better before leaving them out on their own.

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The initial Service Based Sales training you receive is a decent introduction to the art of selling, especially for the twenty-somethings they typically hire.

Outside of that, the pros are few and far between.

    Cons

    * Long, long, long hours with no thought towards a life/work balance. Pay is minimal and there are no raises unless you get promoted.
    * Stores are falling apart. Computers are old, slow, and barely functional. They're also drastically understaffed; it's not uncommon for a store to be run by only a couple of people, who are frazzled and worn out. Turnover is very high. Most stores don't even have a utility person, so you're expected to clean cars while wearing business attire. Most stores do not have dedicated cleaning areas, so you're stuck trying to vacuum in inclement weather.
    * Upper management only cares about sales numbers. The goals are so high that it's nearly impossible to hit them without being shady and unethical. Check your receipt: chances are you paid extra for an upgrade or a damage waiver that you didn't ask for.
    * Customers are often angry and hostile, which is understandable considering how often the company fails to honor confirmed reservations. Fleet can be very sparse and the Hertz corporation takes no responsibility to make sure cars are available. If you can't find a car at another store, you just have to stand there and let a customer scream at you.
    * Management does not care about you. You are a warm-breathing body needed to fill a spot and you can be fired for the most trivial of reasons. If things go right, the guy above you will take the credit. If they go wrong, you'll take 100% of the blame, even if it's due to things you have no control over.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to understand that the Hertz airport model doesn't work in a retail environment. Stores are failing at a fast rate and will continue to do so unless something changes. Figure out a way to make money at your core business, instead of trying to make up losses through ancillary sales. It doesn't work and just creates a hostile work environment.
Learn to treat people as human beings, not sales machines. Train your managers how to actually manage, not just sell. Sales and leadership are two very different skill sets.

I worked at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good hrs 9 to 5 and sometime s saturday 9 to 12pm.

    Cons

Your job relies on good sale goals. If you don't meet goals you are written up and eventually fired.
Very stressful from upset customers to unrealistic demands from corporate.
I had no problem cleaning rental cars but a couple of employees did not like that since we were dressed in professional work attire.
Holidays and weekends are the worst there is always shortage of rental cars. Have to call around nearby locations to get more rentals.
The pay (10.50 per hr )sucks and health benefits are too costly. High employee turnover.

    Advice to Management

    Unrealistic goals should be revised.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is an ok job for someone just getting out of college with little to no experience. You will also meet a lot of great people here. Other than that there's no pros.

    Cons

    Understaffed
    Low pay
    No work life balance
    Bonus structure
    Overwhelming at times
    Rude customers
    Disconnect between branches and corporate
Upper management doesn't care about their employees

    Pros

Drive all types of vehicles. customer service and (minimal) sales exposure.

    Cons

11 hour work days, most of the time not able to take a lunch break. Always understaffed. Poor on-boarding and training systems. I was thrown into the mix not knowing what I was doing and was yelled at numerous times for making the customer wait. Upper management is hit or miss. Hourly pay is horrid. Don't go into it thinking this is a sales job, it's not. Pretty much set up to fail in terms of sales revenue.

    Advice to Management

branch manager trainees take the majority of the work-load. Take in to consideration that we are the ones who are dealing with a wide range of customers' emotions and for $12/hour it most definitely is not worth it.

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

discounts on rentals, laid back staff, able to move to different departments of company, meet all type of people from around the world

    Cons

HOURS, PAY, ONLY PROMOTE FAVORITES, BONUS STRUCTURE, DIFFICULT CUSTOMERS, WORK LOAD, UNDERSTAFFED, HIGH TURN OVER RATE, HIGH EXPECTATIONS BUT NO REWARD, DIFFICULT UPPER MANAGEMENT,

    Advice to Management

Branch manager- don't put so much work on your staff and require them to do 10+ hours over time and not have ANY breaks.
District/General Manager- listened to your managers and employees concerns, don't be so hard on managers, and if you have staff that is qualified to be a manager, and has done the work of a manager at multiple stores, PROMOTE THEM!!! It's not always about sales especially is the employees sales are not bad.

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Easy hiring process
    Can get overtime
    Can get a bonus
    Health benefits
    Paid time off

    Cons

Will use you all up. I worked at store by myself for two months cleaning cars and doing rentals. Then got written up for not meeting sales. They make it cut throat because everybody is out to get a bonus and that's how you get promoted.

    Advice to Management

Promote those who do the work not those who bs customers into getting sales.
