I worked at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, meet lots of people even internationally

    Cons

Make one mistake on a contract and that's it

    Advice to Management

Update your offices into the 21century. They are a bit out dated.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Freedom to not be in an office all day, ability to drive all different types of cars and test out their features, interacting with people from all over the globe and working with certain people whom have become good friends.

    Cons

Where do I start.... very low pay for the amount of work the company expects us to do while not giving us the tools to complete those tasks, no help with fleet needs when reservations continually add (company allows for reservations to be booked with 0 notice for cars a location doesn't have available), very bad work/ life balance, schedules are +50 hours 6 days a week, easy to get burned out but management doesn't care and will rarely (if ever) week a weekend to lessen that load, expected to clean cars in business attire, very little support when dealing with difficult customers and some offices are deplorable yet company does nothing to spruce up the work place to make it more presentable. This job used to better when monthly commissions were paid out based on ability to sell but they replaced that with write ups for not selling while doing nothing to make up the difference in hourly pay. Zero opportunities for upward mobility unless you're willing to inflate numbers with unethical business practices.

    Advice to Management

Show more support for the frontline employees. Management only wants to come around when something bad happens, nothing good ever comes from managers. Frontline staff is expected to do way too much but given so little to succeed.

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discounts on rentals and insurance for staffing.

    Cons

The bonus structure is not equally divided because you can't determine what location you will be working. You are not a manager because you have little to no staff. You have to do everything by yourself including vacuuming, washing, and cleaning vehicles by hand.

    Advice to Management

Get into the 21st century and hire staffing for management and cleaning vehicles.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Weekly pay. The ability to take a day off if you need it. Relaxed corporate culture. Hertz gives you decent healthcare insurance and 401k options.

    Cons

Management doesn't care about its employees. Everything is very top down. Getting commission from sales earnings is hard because they have changed the system so many times! But it's also because you have to sell an amount that is unrealistic. The hourly pay is low.

I worked at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The experience you will be getting. Looks good on a resume. You get to chose between an hour and 30 minute break. Some customers are delightful and speaking to them will make your day.

    Cons

Belligerent customers, branch managers that do not care about their teams, Long work hours 8 - 6 pm plus Saturdays on a rotation schedule. Low pay for high quality work. Understaffed. Overworked employees. Driving most of the day. Vacuuming and wiping down car interiors.

    Advice to Management

If you want customers to be treated like gold treat the same people that work for you the same way. Not only will it increase customer satisfaction but also the way in which hertz will grow and improve. Don't treat your work force like slaves or else they will get tired and leave or have you fire them.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's incredibly easy. Lots of downtime and it's next to impossible to get fired from there. Get to drive some fun cars and meet some interesting people.

    Cons

The hourly is terrible (12) and the commission structure, though lucrative, is incredibly flawed.

There's never enough cars to rent out to people and upper management literally doesn't care about day to day operations. Also, it's next to impossible to get promoted because management doesn't want to pay you more.

I have been working at Hertz (More than a year)

    Pros

The people that work for Hertz are often very helpful and friendly in the "we're in the same boat" kind of way. Also, on the rare days when nothing goes wrong, the work day isn't so bad.

    Cons

Where to begin. Running out of cars, upset customers, having to clean cars in the sun/rain while wearing a shirt and tie, because Hertz is too cheap to hire a car washer so they make you do it, being left alone to run the location by yourself when you're only a trainee, being made to work open to close 65 hours a week 6 days a week because there is no one else there. Being treated as "a number on a spreadsheet", because management doesn't care that you're being overworked on hours and doing a manager's job for non-managers pay. All your bosses care about is sales, not that you're single handedly running the location and running yourself into the ground, going above and beyond and killing yourself for the company, only to get questioned as to why you aren't upgrading enough, even though you have zero cars on the lot.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. Don't force them to do a manager's job unless they are actually a manager or at least being paid like one. Ummmm, treat your employees better.

I worked at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Drive around in cars, pays weekly meet nice people. Overall pretty easy job. The supervision was minimal as long as you do your job

    Cons

Washed cars in nice clothes low pay long hours. Didnt like working 12 hour days for such little pay

    Advice to Management

Pay more and do more for employees
