I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great Banefits. HLE Western Region senior leadership team is top notch!

    Cons

Long hours. Loads of work that can be more effectively completed and analyzed by back office or administrative support.

    Advice to Management

Compensation in general should be higher for all positions. We are attracting what we pay for.

    Pros

You get a Free car. You do not have to pay for oil changes, gas or insurance. You also get free cars when you travel.

    Cons

I believe that we are over worked as managers and under pod for the tasks that you have to do. Some employees make more than management.

    Advice to Management

Reward employees for their work not just because they have worked there long.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You meet some great people ( customers) working for the company . Hours of operation are okay. Great employees. Weekly pay

    Cons

Long work hours, not enough employees, company does not respect their employees, low pay, trying different ways to pay the employees less and want to work the employees more, bonus structure gone, make you move up just to receive a little bonus, does not train their employees well, expect you to wash cars and don't make the customer responsible for messing up the vehicles, upper management does not take responsibility on their choices they make, customers receive free upgrades because we never have the size they request, always wanting employees to say yes even when their are no vehicles available. The management staff makes decisions based off friendships.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Customers are not always right.

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible schedule when not in the busy season, you get to leave the office when picking up cars or customers or making airport runs, seeing the brand new cars were nice. You definitely can move up but you have to hit your number and the highest you really can go is manager.

    Cons

Expected to work a full work day sometimes longer in order to get cars ready (8 am-6pm), not all locations have a closed-in area to clean cars. I spent many days in the freezing cold, snow, pouring rain, or beaming sun cleaning cars ( vacuum and wipe down) with no cover. Some locations lack adequate space for parking rental cars. Upper management would change rules in a second, not realizing how they effect customers (debit card policy change), and there is definitely a lack of quality in presentation at the Hertz local editions. They also removed the monthly bonus and made it quarterly with different stipulations which sucked. I went from getting a $500-$700 bonus a month to 0-$200 every 3 months. Not worth it

    Advice to Management

Treat employees better. Should be getting a higher wage based on the amount of work and the bonus should go back to monthly. Locations need adequate staff which will improve employee morale, i.e drivers, utility.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Meet interesting co-workers and customers.
Learn about and Drive different vehicles
Discount for rentals and other companies
Selling, get bonus every month only if you make your numbers
    Get paid every week
    Plenty of overtime
Great experience to learn and be in management for other future jobs not with hertz

    Cons

    No organization
    Lack of communication
    High turnover
    No work/life balance
Constantly in location by yourself anything can happen to you and no one would know
At times your the only employee in location swamped with customers
Not given the tools needed to ensure the job is done properly
Unable to finish my long page of training
Dealing with nasty insurance customers and the insurance companies
Higher ups refuse to hire the help you need
Working long hours 8-6 and sometimes with no lunch due to lack of employees and there are many times you are there longer
Cleaning nasty vehicles in all weather without carport
Doing the work of 5 people and your the only one
Is very overwhelming for the bad pay (which truly is not worth the aggravation)
Type of employment you would only get if you didn't have a family or going to school full time
Completely not what you expect due to the workload overwhelming and exhausting you due to lack of employees, it truly is not what you expect

That is why I am currently looking for work elsewhere because of the lack of employees, no work life balance, low pay for all the work I do

    Advice to Management

Stop being cheap and hire more people to help with the workload. One person can not do it all.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hours of operation are good and insight on various vehicles is a plus.

    Cons

Long hours, no cars, short staff, insufficient resources, over worked, under paid, and inconsistent policies.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what customers are complaining about and fix those issues within the company. Stop being "greedy" and allowing customers to book reservations when we don't have cars! If you know your biggest contract is high demand, get more cars in the fleet!

    Pros

Great opportunity to make nice commission isnthey wouldn't stop changing the rules

    Cons

This company changes their strategy way too often.. make a plan and stick with it for more then a few months. It's starts at the top and the austin city manager doesn't lead. He talks nearly about other managers and employees to other hourly and salaried staff.

    Advice to Management

More training for people that struggle. For people who are successful, let them sail. Stop always coming down on employees and rarely congratulating a job well done. Moral and lack of doing for employees for holidays and Xmas shows who you really are and how you don't care

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-Free car, gas, and insurance for managers.
-Good benefits package and vacation time.

    Cons

    -The pressure of numbers.
-Fire employees at the drop of the hat regularly.
    -Zero job security.
    -Unrealistic expectations.
    -No work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

You should try to hold on to your loyal employees with years of service rather than terminate them. Need to have a consistent CEO; too many executive management changes. Managers expected to work 60 hours/week but only get paid for 40.
