I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay with 4 year degree and 10hr/wk of overtime. Weekly paycheck. 50 hr work week. Get to drive cool cars sometimes.

    Cons

Exhausting hours. Angry customers due to lack of cars. Impossible sales goals by ethical means. High turnover rate! Cooperate af. Rent in a dirty car is a durable offense. Management expects customers to wait until we can have a clean car ready.

    Advice to Management

There's no hope of improving without meeting the supply of cars with the demand and changing the corporate model.

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Decent car rental discount
-Some downtime to do what you want
    -Some great customers
-Can get out of the office a decent amount

    Cons

    -Garbage hours with garbage pay
    -Garbage benefits
-Requires a degree to do a job a 16 year old could do
-Very sales based which requires selling unnecessary extras to unwilling customers
-Upper management has no idea what they are doing
-Hertz refuses to adjust to market demand
-Very money driven versus customer or product driven
-You are a number and nothing more
-Only focuses on you when you're performing poorly
-Treats you like a irresponsible child
-Turn over rate is extremely high
    -Only promotes based on sales
I could continue on for days but I think I've made my point

    Advice to Management

My immediate manager was a fantastic person who made the best out of a bad situation. However Hertz needs to learn that providing what customers want, versus what they think they want, are two totally separate things. Learn to value your employees, so your employees can value your customers. Instead of promoting based on sales, promote based on customer service performance and branch management. Many times I've seen employees be promoted for their sales, only to fail in their next position because they do not display any other talents. I'm not saying I want Hertz to fail, but i would not be at all surprised to see the company completely decline to nothing.

    Pros

Overtime, job flexibility (due to being able to leave and run errands and pick up/deliver cars from locations). Paid vacation

    Cons

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

*You definitely meet a lot of interesting people, both co workers and customers, which is good if you're a people person.

*Starting salary is a reasonable rate, with lots of opportunity for overtime.

*Health benefits and vacation/sick time are reasonable.

    Cons

*Upper management has ridiculously unreasonable expectations for sales of a product no one really needs.

*Management doesn't care about customer satisfaction or any other aspect of the job; It's ALL about sales numbers.

*Promotion is based solely on sales numbers. You could have absolutely no other skills, and very low work ethic, but if you're "numbers" are high, get ready to be promoted quickly!

*As a woman, I've found that this company doesn't seem to take women as seriously as men, treat them with the same amount of respect, or offer the same opportunities for advancement as other companies, which is extremely disheartening.

*Long hours, working with little to no help, and very minimal training.

    Advice to Management

Maybe if you focused more on vehicle quality and customer service, as opposed to pushing the protection packages, your employee retention rate would be higher, and you would have satisfied, repeat customers.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    ok for a career starter

    Cons

employees are lazy and don't want to work

    Advice to Management

watch your employees close, because you have some who work whole heartily and some who doesn't. people will run off with the managers not around and this creates a issue with customer service. my main issue is the people I have to work with, and how they are lazy and don't truly care about the people, or the organization. I'm a work horse at my location because of it, and it's coming to a end. Also, the main issue is that you have to rely on others to do small things that they take hours to do. If I need to get a car brought to my location, the person who brings it will run off & come hours later, if I need a car clean, the take hours, if I need a oil change hold removed, they take hours. And you can ask the question, "why want you do it yourself" the issue is, If I'm with a customer, and the person who says there going to get the car while I'm setting up customer up to place them in the vehicle, runs off and does other things while the customer waits for a hour to do something that takes 5 mins, than it's out of my control. same thing with cleaning a car, everyone waits until the last minute to do it, and they wait for a customer to come into, just to do it when they should have had the vehicles clean before any customers arrived. the oil change issue, only branch managers can do it, any they take there sweet time doing that as well, while I have a customer waiting to get placed in the vehicle.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Cool position title which looks good on résumé
40% discount on rentals for friends and family.

    Cons

There are 3 more position before you're an actual Branch Manager. It's unlikely that you'll make the stated "$35,000". If your location doesn't have a VSA (a designated person to clean cars) you'll be doing it yourself normally outside in business casual clothes. Hourly pay, and no more monthly incentive bonus. The pay isn't high enough for the type of work you'll be doing.

    Advice to Management

Train the BMTs a little bit better before leaving them out on their own.
