I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

One of the best reasons to work for a company like Hertz is that Management is in tune with the needs of the employees.

    Cons

One downside is that you will definitely work past your assigned hours.

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Started as an MT (Manager Trainee) and quickly became Branch manager. Great Benefits. Branch manager position gets a company car and free gas. Get to build great connection and meet a lot of people. Its something new everyday in the rental car world.

    Cons

LONG hours of work. Usual shift was from 9 to 12 hours. Not enough staffing to cover daily operations. There was days where I work a full 8 hours before even having a chance to take a break and have lunch. Micromanaging just became ridiculous. Very unorganized company. Too many changes to keep up, just felt like us employees were always playing catchup. Poor training.

    Advice to Management

TRAIN your employees. Get more staffing. Have better communication.

    Cons

commission structure is made for you not get paid . is not fair structure , supposed to be sales job but is hard to sale due to the reason you have to work on different departments

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Take home car and not having to pay gas or auto insurance.

    Cons

Long hours, short staffed 99% of the time, no work/ life balance, days with no lunch breaks or even time to think. And upper management has a callous attitude towards the locations "needs and wants" as to grow the business or have our customers satisfied. No room for advancement to upper level management. The bonus plans keep changing on you without notice. Unrealistic goals and expectations, from upper management who are "OBLIVIOUS" as to even how to hit any of the target goals set on the "business plan". Lack of communication and transparency at all levels top to bottom. You will receive constant threats from upper management who love to make an example out of you in front of others. Not to mention lots of angry and upset customers due to lack of fleet V.S true Demand. Area Managers act as if that is an issues they can't control and will not go out of their way to help allocate you more fleet to meet the customers needs. So end result is you having a bad survey then being held responsible for it, even though its out of you're "control", due to lack of help and fleet.

    Advice to Management

When you’re the expert, talk like one.
    Praise publicly and criticize privately
    Don’t present problems without solutions
    Be responsive
Be the Leader instead of the "BOSS" trying to always show you have power.
    Listen carefully
Show gratitude towards the ones who are in the battle fields daily! Fight to keep everyone a job!

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome weekly pay, 15 vacation days + 8 sick days and holidays, benefits, cool gifts and treats from GSAs, monthly birthday lunches, stable job. Your favorite part of the day will be talking to GSAs. The job itself is super easy and honestly very enjoyable and fun.

    Cons

Hertz is going through a major transition still and all bad trickles down to you. The tension in the office is terrible and impossible to work. Its like being in a high school hallway all over again. Everyone is loud and obnoxious not to mention annoying and complaining half the time. Management does not let you grow unless their job is on the line. No one can be trusted. Everyone is sharing secrets right behind you and there are cliques. Your work is not appreciated and you are taken for granted. The money is not worth the treatment. Everyone is uneducated and is only there because of 15+ years of being with Hertz and won't be accepted anywhere else at this point. The location is terrible and hours of traffic to get in and out of there. (corner of nw 12 st and 72 ave next to airport). Every process is beyond old...they JUST got Outlook for emailing and no one knows how to properly work a computer. If you need something done not just related to computers...you have to call someone for that and wait weeks for it to get done.

    Advice to Management

Let go and move on! Just because things did not happen so easily for you 20 years ago does not mean you have to make it a living hell for those who do work hard. People have left the company and bettered their lives while you are still complaining and moaning about what happened. The favoritism and the best friend situation is annoying and unethical. Don't assume everything is the same as 20 years ago and can get taken care of. IT'S 3 BRANDS NOW. Get a college education at least up to a bachelor's degree to really know what life is and how the world works like today. Management should at least have a master's or working on it. Do not think you can keep people happy with promotions and raises. They are Humans with souls not machines.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great learning expericence for those fresh out of college, decent benefits, great co-workers... It's super fast faced and the days (and years) go by quickly. Great opportunities to work for your money; a majority of pay is commission and bonus.

    Cons

One -man show, long hours, work some holidays, high employee turnover, undercompensated, questionable morals throughout the company, hard to get out - you work so much, it would be like a second job looking for a job

    Advice to Management

Buy new cars more consistently, treat employees like they are valued, pay employees on time, try to foster appreciation even at low levels
