I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company car , there is really nothing else that I can say good about hertz .
Long hours , no stability, weak upper management expecting good results by providing no tools or assistance to do it . You are on your own

    Cons

Company doesn't care about their employees. After dedicated long years they can let you go for absolutely nothing. No appreciation your boss can throw you under the bus in a heartbeat to save him or herself. Awful company

    Advice to Management

    Resign

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Best in class vehicles, processes and IT

    Cons

Management structure optimal for conference calls and meetings...not so focused on effective operational management.

    Advice to Management

Executive management should spend at least 20% of their time working the airport rental counters and the service bays to see exactly how their initiatives are or are not translated into operational reality.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Can be fun. Day to day operations are different every day. Good management experience. Decent opportunities for advancement. Car privileges is the biggest perk.

    Cons

Long hours, stressful environment, never allowed to staff adequately. Held to standards that are difficult to achieve without proper support / tools. A lot of value / importance placed by senior management on hourly employees and never any concern for operations management.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating operations managers as expendable. Pay more competitive salaries. Allow operations to staff appropriately.

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

As a field manager, you are provided with a company car. With your company car, you also get gas at your home location or any other you visit. Should you fly somewhere, the car is free there as well.

    Cons

The company is bare bones on IT, is very low pay with an incentive program that gets worse as time goes on, and does knee jerk reactions on everything. If the stock price drops 2 bucks, it is common for them to do hiring freezes. They also manipulate accounting expense by ordering cars not to be repaired until the following quarter. The management above the location but not in corporate is nothing but a conference call joke job that contributes nothing. You will also be doing things some would consider illegal regarding sales practices.

    Advice to Management

flatten all management that is not field level or corporate, and dissolve the insane human resources business partner thing and consolidate it in headquarters. Quit keeping cars until 60,000 miles and reverse the trend of it becoming rent a wreck.
