I worked at Hertz (More than 10 years)

    Pros

During my tenure with Hertz (1997 - 2014), I had the opportunity to work with an amazing group of professionals, from those out in the field doing the day to day job of servicing customers, to those in specific business areas -- marketing, fleet, legal, etc. -- the talent was exceptional.

    Cons

When I left, the company was no longer the beacon of excellence it was during the earlier part of my career. Also, many colleagues decided to pursue other opportunities with the Company's relocation to SWFL so I'm not sure about the pool of talent working in the corporate office.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Prior to this CIO, good benefits, calm working environment, productive employees

    Cons

CIO eliminated work-from-home, outsourced all of IT to a company known for mishandling technology, increased working hours without a corresponding raise, destroyed Agile methodologies, unilaterally made poor technology decisions.

    Advice to Management

Fire the new CIO. He doesn't care about his employees, thus he does not care about Hertz's stock price.

I worked at Hertz as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Overall friendly colleagues. Had a solid one-on-one training with knowledgable employee. Very friendly managers whom seem to care about their employees

    Cons

Many of the employees were hired through temp agencies. No real loyalty to the company/brand.

    Advice to Management

Be proactive with knowing whether or not an employee is there just for the short term or wants to work there long term. May help with who to train and who to keep a closer eye on.

    I worked at Hertz full-time

    Pros

Very talented people join the company. The people joining the company work hard, are willing to help, and are usually very experienced in their field. HR makes you feel good about joining the company so you come in with a sense that you would be able to contribute to the growth and development of the company.

    Cons

After you join, you realize that what you do is nowhere close to what the job description says. Managers are reduced to doing the work of interns. Directors don't actually manage anyone. And all the work is piled onto one or two once-enthusiastic workers. HR's sole purpose now is to make sure that your salary doesn't increase by too much.

    Advice to Management

Don't overlook the antiquated talent management system when you're looking for areas to improve.
