I worked at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers were awesome to work with. Management was ok, just think they need to listen to more employee feedback.

    Cons

50+ hours, no real breaks, angry and crazy customers, understaffed at certain locations where you end up renting cars, answering phones, picking up customers, washing the cars and trying to do everything while keeping excellent customer service. And crappy pay, on top of that with no commission.

    Advice to Management

You definitely need to rethink how you do business, the model that is currently used is definitely in the 20th century. An upgrade in technology would help, more compensation would be a great motivating factor otherwise I wouldn't recommend this job to anyone looking for a career

Rates for rentals are over inflated

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy going environment in regards to not being micromanaged. Freedom to do whatever your superior let’s you get away with. Great opportunities to get promoted quickly if you’re a people’s person and know how to sell. Good employee discounts as far as locked in rates for rentals/free rentals & gas for managers

    Cons

Lack of company direction. It’s really apparently that hertz as a company has no idea where or how they want to grow or even if they want to grow. Company refuses to invest in any marketing material also, i have never been a part of a company that will literally change the structure of pay/commission without any advanced notice or memo EXPLAINING IN DETAIL how it has changed like Hertz does. Poorly conducted new hire training which really doesn’t educate new employees on what they can and can’t do so they’re forced to learn by word of mouth of older employees that may or may not have any idea if they are right or not...it’s just how it was told to them. it’s literally impossible to know if you’re violating company policy without actually violating first because they do not have a code of conduct that they provide to each and every employee. They also do not believe in warnings/write-ups nor suspension. One violation of a policy is grounds for automatic termination without a second to even comprehend what was done wrong. Also incredibly long hours. As a trainee, i was working a minimum of 8 hours OT every week and as a branch manager that turned into 15-16 hrs on salary

    Advice to Management

Please.... train. Your. Employees, from car washers and transporters to area managers and GM’s. It starts at the top. If you have laxed supervisors who only care about the bottom line profitability then you will have employees that have a poor understanding what policies are legit policies of hertz or of your supervisor
