I worked at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People are good & learning different types of equipment in the construction industry. Benefits were good. Great place to start a job to learn about the equipment rental business. Room for growth but limited if not willing to relocate. Teaches you how to adapt to busy work environments and strengthens your ability to multi-task.

    Cons

Central reservation system does not have good business ethics. They receive orders from a variety of customers and send them blindly to their corresponding branch, not even knowing or checking if the branch has the equipment or not. They basically lie to the customer and give them unrealistic times of delivery, thus, forces the sales coordinator to scramble an search for the equipment from other branches (which are pretty far from each other and causes lack of efficiency in time, use of hours, and money). Majority of the time, time is wasted in merely searching for the equipment from other branches and re-renting equipment from other rental companies.

    Advice to Management

Reward and recognition goes a long way. However, promising something and never committing to it causes employees to leave. Also, business ethics is important in customer service. Please have central reservation at least check to see if unit is at the branch and then make sure it is also working. Just because it shows in the system it does't mean it's at the branch and ready to go. It's equipment, lots of wear and tear & up to date maintenance required.

    Pros

The Branch Managers and are amazing. They genuinely care about success and growth.

    Cons

The "supervisor" is a joke. He is the epitome of someone who is not meant to manage people.

I have been working at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working hard allows quick opportunities for advancement. If you're looking for a solid job with a company that has been around a long time, it's not a bad choice.

    Cons

Not managed well and has too much drama between colleagues and locations. Very high school type atmosphere sometimes. Do not put customers first very often.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you know which employees are helping the company and which are hurtig it. Way too many people in decision-making roles who have no business making decisions.
