I worked at Hertz (More than a year)

    Pros

    New customer interactions daily
If you're willing to learn you can gain a wealth of knowledge including conflict resolution, dealing with insurance companies

    Cons

    Extremely high turnover rate
    Understaffed locations
Extremely long hours 50-60 hour work weeks
    Hostile work environment
    Poorly conditioned vehicles
Co workers will cherry pick customers to work with

    Advice to Management

The times change however the industry remains the same. Personal and meaningful interactions with workers are vital. It's the age of the millennial. In a world of uber, lyft, enterprise and car dealerships I'm sure you're now realizing the ever present need for a company makeover. I'm not a bitter former employee. I was actually grateful and loved my job. Although I never received a promotion in the two years there I never complained. I actually was responsible for maintaining your former and the largest corporate banking accounts in Richmond,va. I was afforded to meet with senior executives, presidents, evp's, VP's and many frontline workers. It was my greatest experience from your company that I will forever appreciate. I would love to help you in your customer experience and helping improve your employees working condition experience. I know you guys will appreciate the Norse assessment and if you have any questions I'm sure if you dig hard enough you'll know how to contact me!

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learn essential skills on how to manage and operate store - good opportunity to move up in the company and good benefits/perks with discounts you can get renting cool cars

    Cons

Unreasonable to have you in a shirt and tie and clean a car inside and out the whole works in scorching hot weather - get all sweaty then have to play another role / task of trying to sell insurance or upgrade the customer when you look a complete mess - also the way you are expected to take risk by renting all cars on lot no matter what and to not be concerned about booked appointments/reservations - that you can get more cars from another location often blows up in your face - you never get more cars and you have angry / upset customer on your hands - yelling at you on a daily basis - hertz is terrible with managing inventory

    Advice to Management

Have a job role for just people who clean cars or pick up customers and separate that from the role of service rep who's main focus is managing inventory and selling

I have been working at Hertz full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits, Weekends off, Close early

    Cons

Work ten hour shifts MON-FRI. Sometimes 4 hours on SAT.. So it takes up a lot of your time. It'd be worth it if the pay was more.
    They are super understaffed.
Managers don't seem to care much about customer service, they focus more on ways to make the company money.
    Hours are not flexible.
Not much growth opportunity within the company.

    Advice to Management

Be more professional. Get all employees on the same team.

    Pros

Opportunity to train for Management offered.

    Cons

They are very deceptive. I worked for 3 days and was only trained to clean and gas up cars. Went back to my original job and was not compensated for hours worked. They where not professional enough as a company to send a check stub for the hours I worked.

    Advice to Management

Train you employees (management) on how to present Hertz as a reputable company.

I have been working at Hertz full-time

    Pros

Don't just sit in an office all day. Good discount 40%

    Cons

Low pay, other branches problems become your problem, dealing with pissed of customers daily. Have been working here about 7 months and have only received commission once. This job is not worth the pay. Long hours. 7:30-6 mon-fri

    Advice to Management

Need to pay the counter people more. We deal with way too much bs to be paid minimum wage

I worked at Hertz full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The pros would be that you get your 40 hrs plus overtime sometimes.

    Cons

The con is the ridiculous sales goals and I've seen great people get fired because they didn't hit the mark. Even when you do hit the mark sometimes you don't get paid out because you don't hit the right "Hertz" mark. Management is always getting replaced and they don't care about you only making sales and keeping customers happy even if that means stepping all over you. You clean the cars yourself most of the time and that's anywhere from 1-20 cars.

    Pros

Incentives, nothing else, nothing else, nothing else

    Cons

The worst management. Horrible training, over worked for the amount of pay, benefits suck,

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring 21 year olds as management. Power goes to their heads way to quick.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, company car, company credit card, great benefits and a good pension plan. The management team is helpful and encourage you to move up.

    Cons

Many reports to complete weekly. Not the best use of time when on all these conference calls and work meetings.

    Advice to Management

    Less reports
