I worked at Hess Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great dinning facility's. Nice office in Houston by Discovery Green. 401K match. Good benifit plans, medical, dental, and eye. Bus and parking subsidised. 9/80 work schedule

    Cons

Non-technical positions ate marginalised so amounting and finance staff are not valued by upper management. Outsorced account in ng to Accenture in India. Under staffed

    Advice to Management

Eliminate Accenture and bring the accountants back to Houston. Actually adhere to the 2020 vision and treat employees like a true asset. Cut back on HR reps- they never know answers and just tell you to call benifits center

    Pros

Generally pays well with good benefits, executive team tries to communicate regularly, can be good opportunities IF you can get assigned to good projects

    Cons

Don't expect to be treated with respect ( sometimes even professionally) unless you are an engineer or geologist. Smaller organization allows for favoritism and relationships to be more important than work results

    Advice to Management

    Beware of bad middle managers

I worked at Hess Corporation full-time

    Pros

Decent Pay, Allowed to work from home when needed.

    Cons

Not a great work environment. Not a lot of help learning the job from co-workers. Backstabbing work environment. End of year reviews were predetermined, ratings and bonuses did not reflect work. Had to work every night and weekend for the first year without any help from co-workers and the manager did nothing about it.

    Advice to Management

Get a better handle on the people on the desk and have a procedure for coverage so not one person has to work every weekend and become burnt out.

I worked at Hess Corporation part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It kind of pays the bills, fun people to work with.

    Cons

Employees are expected to fly from one end of the store to another nonstop, stand at all times- to sum it up, a physically difficult job for $8 an hour. And not even an employee discount. Suggested sales were a nightmare. We actually got warnings when we didn't annoy customers enough to buy snickers, skittles, etc. Pay raise based on favoritism.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees to sit during 8-hour shift, provide some discount/incentive, have more registers, keep 2+ people on staff during rush hours.

    Pros

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees as assets.

    Pros

Many nice people, opportunity to travel, large sign-on bonus. Competitive salary.

    Cons

Many people are hired and promoted based upon who they know (friends of the Hess family) regardless of talent, has a "mom and pop" mentality, yet attempts to operate globally. Mr. Hess operates the company like a spoiled child.

    Advice to Management

    Restructure...which has already happened

I have been working at Hess Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay and ins. benefits not enough pros to meet the twenty word minimum so I will just ramble just a bit longer.

    Cons

Worst company ever for cutting payroll hours. Single coverage is the norm and half the bathrooms are outside. Ever go to a Racetrac and see a sigh on the door...BRB taking a crap?!
NO because they have 4 or 5people working at a time!!!

    Advice to Management

Too late for advice! Good luck Marathon!!
