    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Location, culture, financially stable, location

    Cons

Job Out-sourcing, lack of innovation, rewards mediocracy

    Advice to Management

After spending 25 years with the company, it was heart-breaking to watch management deliberately strip areas of innovation and excellence and work hard to ship jobs overseas to chase the short-term investor approval.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work-life balance and base pay.

    Cons

HP's compensation is competitive. BUT... they have no clue on how to track their commissions for sales reps . Not even upper-management can explain it while sales go untrackable, and commission never gets paid out in its entirety. If you want to trust your paycheck on blind luck, and be satisfied with maybe meeting goal (exceeding is near impossible as there is no ability to track commissions in a comprehensive manner) then you can tolerate the complex environment of global processes that never seem to stress accountability.

    Advice to Management

Management at HP, in general, is very fair and operates like true team members. It's the execs that continue to be greedy and unwilling to put their necks out to fix systemic problems that trickle down to the lower guys. While there were numerous class-action law suites filed against HP for nonpayment of commissions - for years - only recently did Meg Whitman admit to having a problem. From what I hear from existing employees, it's still a mess.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team – deep resources. Can be a top contender in technology space if Meg can bring the enter company into one vision and goal.

    Cons

Disconnect at VP level down. Meg needs to resolve all the business unit/silo’s currently throughout the company. This issue will now allow HPE to be flexible and nimble as they need to be to compete.
