I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Salary Compensation and Benefits. Wonderful Co-Workers and Development Teams. Loved my Work and My Team Members.

    Cons

HP Restructured the company by splitting into Enterprise and HP, Inc. in 2015. My position as a Sr. Business Analyst was eliminated as the company no longer supported anyone not able to work in at an actual desk at an HP location. I worked in the Pittsburgh, PA area, assigned to the Western PA clients. HP did not have an official HP location in this area, so my position was no longer supported. HP did nothing to help me establish a location in my area, I was willing to relocate to the Texas location but my management did nothing for me to transition. They just cut my position and got rid of me, although my work with a major client was outstanding and I also worked on internal applications with a highly visible successful project.

Even before the split, Whitman announced plans to replace 60 percent of its IT service staff from the US and Europe with cheaper workers in Costa Rica, the Philippines, Bulgaria, and India, in an effort to boost profitability.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees who are achievers, dedicated and loyal to HP. Hewlett Packard is no longer a company who values the American worker. Meg Whitman has been a major disappointment.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than a year)

    Pros

Has a good work environment with enough importance given to individual skills and goals. Enough modes to unwind too!

    Cons

Not one of the high paying companies when compared to its peers which sees people moving out in due course of time.

    Pros

Co-workers, longevity, familiarity, culture and work life balance.

    Cons

HP will offshore work without second thoughts. They will sacrifice knowledge for cost savings and leave workers unemployed. HP also severely underpays their employees, rarely offers pay increases (small % based upon merit) and cuts/reduces severance packages before layoffs.
