    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Hewlett Packard was a great company to work for, but it has just lost it's way. Talking to my old colleagues, they are just saying "show me the money" and that's the Pro

    Cons

Waiting for the axe to fall, but when it does it's a relief

    Advice to Management

Had enough of being divided up like a cake, I'm not bitter - I've got my money, they just need to realise it's the staff that make a company, not the shareholders.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than a year)

    Pros

Great learning opportunities, benefits, great environment, self-service type of company. They make sure people are recognized, excellent performance review systems, opportunity to work internationally, flexibility.

    Cons

Bureaucracy, payroll was in another country, so it was difficult and slow to solve an issue, salaries could be higher

    Advice to Management

    None

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You can learn a lot at HP and you always have the opportunity to take on different challenges! Career progression is slow but steady!

    Cons

A company too big and too decentralised. Too many processes and levels of approval that make the employees very frustrated and the company very slow in responding to change.

    Advice to Management

Allow team leaders to take the reins once in a while!

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No good reason , if you want to just focus on one work area without any skill or personal development, this is the place for you

    Cons

Unrealsitic work expectations, no time bound work and lack of respect in the environment . There is no set framework for progression.

    Advice to Management

    Respect employees !

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Technology strength, global resources, ability to deal with scale, broad portfolio, generally good technical competence. Good brand although this is starting to slip

    Cons

Unable to wrap technology around a clients use case -resells their technology to other SIs ruining differentiation as they continually develop much better industry focused solutions.

    Advice to Management

Bill and Dave will be spinning in their grave as the once admired HP Way is in the toilet....Bad performance in individuals is not managed and good performance is not recognised or supported. The good people leave and go on to success in other organisations so the common denominator of continued poor performance is HP leadership. There is a cartel of senior sales people fighting over disproportionally high compensation packages whilst the rest of the skills chain is largely ignored ie no salary increases or performance bonuses in 7 years is not uncommon. Manage the bad leaders out, nurture and reward the good people within and share success more equitably and the company will turn around.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

World wide travel, mostly great motivated peers looking at the longer view

    Cons

Senior management inability to trust and delegate. Must move fast as 3 layers of additional sign added etc

    Advice to Management

Get ahead of market, IT infrastructure is a shrinking place, Cloud is not just marketing opportunity for boxes.
