    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, flexible work practices (although that has changed and will continue to change), great people, great support.

    Cons

You can get laid off at the drop of the hat if you do not fit whatever mold they created as a company. Both my husband and I worked for HP and then the company split. He was subsequently laid off because he worked, for the most part, remotely and there was a call to come back into the office. My team was sold off to another company where I too was laid off. There is no sense of stability with this place, things change in heartbeat and the lay offs were brutal. Expecting the other shoe to drop was no way to work.

    Advice to Management

Focus on your people, instead of lining your pockets with millions.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A big company, so there is generally a better job security.
Salary is competitive enough, and benefits are in par with industry.

    Cons

Company is too big, so there is not so much visibility for the employee.
Bonuses are not in par with industry. Very low compensation rate.

    Advice to Management

Increase total compensation for employees. Stop increasing the cost of health care & benefits.
Reward employees and recognize the efforts they contribute.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only pro that i can say is that it HP looks good on the resume.

    Cons

Most of management is horrible. A lot of PMs that don't know what they are doing or not doing anything. DMs that don't know how to do their job. It only gets worse as it goes up the ladder. No cooperation between different department. No reward for killing yourself to make HP successful. No bonuses unless you are management. If you are not management then you will get screwed over ... BADLY. No chance for growth unless you have a rare good manager.

    Advice to Management

Management level need to be overhauled and not just firing the techs to save money.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible work from home, little manager oversight. Great fellow employees

    Cons

Company became another big american company, no salary increases.

    Advice to Management

Remember that Bill and Dave created something very unique, you need to embrace that different way of thinking and stop being just a follower in the industry. It is a good thing that the whole HP Invent thing went away because there is no innovation anymore, just followers
