I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A big company, so there is generally a better job security.
Salary is competitive enough, and benefits are in par with industry.

    Cons

Company is too big, so there is not so much visibility for the employee.
Bonuses are not in par with industry. Very low compensation rate.

    Advice to Management

Increase total compensation for employees. Stop increasing the cost of health care & benefits.
Reward employees and recognize the efforts they contribute.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only pro that i can say is that it HP looks good on the resume.

    Cons

Most of management is horrible. A lot of PMs that don't know what they are doing or not doing anything. DMs that don't know how to do their job. It only gets worse as it goes up the ladder. No cooperation between different department. No reward for killing yourself to make HP successful. No bonuses unless you are management. If you are not management then you will get screwed over ... BADLY. No chance for growth unless you have a rare good manager.

    Advice to Management

Management level need to be overhauled and not just firing the techs to save money.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Unfortunately after six years, I can only say that my coworkers and immediate management are pros at HP. Each day gets harder to work for HP.

    Cons

Pay is no where near industry standard if you have been a loyal employee longer than a year. I have started looking at new opportunities and recruiters are guessing my salary to be double what I currently make. The company is in such disarray that to get anything done takes an act of congress. The internal systems are so bad that decisions are made not on what is best for the customer or the business, but if the systems can handle it. The back to the office initiative is horrible. Those who don't live near a facility have either been told they have to move or live in constant fear of being let go. You can't be innovative because of red tape and systems that barely function.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and trust them to make good decisions. Upgrade internal systems so that the customer experience is better. Remove all the layers of red tape. Overhaul HR and pay your employees what they are worth rather than continue to give senior management more and more pay.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Brand name and breath of product. Compensation is good. Benefits industry standard.

    Cons

Change and more change. Change is part of life and it the IT industry, however, HP has redefined the word. The biggest complaint is from the client base, two many reps and territory changes. Customer support and R & D is the worst in the IT industry.

    Advice to Management

What management. Too many and too many layers of folks that do not add value. Management is interested in the next level to keep their jobs and not interested in employees or customers. HP needs continuity in the field and more reps, not more layers of management.
