I have been working at Hewlett-Packard as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting and innovative products, with exciting product launches. Opportunity to work closely with customers and respond to their feedback.

    Cons

Lots of disruptive "change for change's sake" reorganizations, transitions to talent pools perceived to be lower cost, erosion of Brand as quality suffers. US employees need to work on Offshore schedules.

    Advice to Management

Retain people with key knowledge- if this is not possible, create a better repository of information and develop effective knowledge transfer processes to ease the transitions.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Innovative company that has not lost its way when it comes to the community. HP is the most generous company I have worked for - from matching donations, encouraging volunteerism, and funding so many amazing projects around the world, I was truly proud to be an HP'er.

    Cons

At times HP has acquired orgs or brought in folks that do not live up to the HP way - especially around fairness, inclusion and respect for others. Those who possess a dinosaur mentality when it comes to a female in IT must be weeded out - management and individual contributors alike.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within and please continue promoting socially beneficial programs that make HP stand out from everyone else.
