    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good for younger candidates looking to gain some good experience. A lot of changes going on which can be productive with the right opportunities.

    Cons

Not too good for older or legacy employees a lot of new management, continuous downsizing and re organization. That results in low morale and uncertainty.

    Advice to Management

Get a growth strategy and stick to it, re-invention every quarter does not work. Employees are your assets not your quartet liability to reduce. HR and Finance can't run a company long term..

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They give you a decent salary.

    Cons

This place is toxic. It's full of rude people who are unwilling to change their ways and try new ideas. The place is literally full of people who do nothing to improve their skills - kind of ironic for a tech company, no? I worked with people here who literally thought Google Docs was "too difficult" for them... Beyond being inept, most people here are just back-stabbing, manipulative and disgustingly political. I've literally seen people cry repeatedly at their desks with no one going over to help them (and yes, it's because someone else at work was rude to them). Rather than working together, teams are territorial and selfish. Aside from salary, there's absolutely nothing redeeming about working here and you will not improve your skills - because there's no skills to be learned. You'll have to seek out education on your own outside of work if you want to remain competitive in your field. This is literally the WORST place I've ever worked at in my life. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

    Advice to Management

Start over from scratch because you guys are delusional and horrible at your jobs.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The main site was in Brooklyn, NY. That meant the site I worked for (in another state) had no on-site supervision.

    Cons

Just about everything else...The organization was not thete, they rate of pay did not commiserate with the amount of work, and office politics trumped everything else. There was no professionalism, no training, etc. It was a HR nightmare!!!!

    Advice to Management

Please re-work the whole system and cut out the cancerous management. Organization and sound policies that are followed consistently help everyone. Especially employees!!! Employers forget that more often than not-you get what you pay for....Pay employees less, you get less. That includes quality of work and loyalty. That affects your bottom line.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Work from home was nice

    Cons

Horrible management that is based in Texas - never see them face to face, no salary increases in 7 years and extremely small bonuses even when you took on a big project outside of your normal responsibilities. Stay away if you want to enjoy your career.

    Advice to Management

When you treat your employees like garbage the end product reflects it.

    Pros

The company provides good health benefits and PTO and vacation hours for their contractors. they also provide some tools to help with your contract work.

    Cons

they do not value their employees, they are about metrics and cost saving. If more roles and responsibilities are added to your contract job, you will not be compensated. You can be doing a great job and the company you are providing service for loves your work but if you cant afford to say because of compensation, HP will say I'm sorry and good bye and hire someone to work for less money to do the same job.

    Advice to Management

    treat employees better

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    They're using some cutting-edge technology

    Cons

They love laying off hard working, knowledgeable workers. Regrettably it's to provide bonuses to management rather than the ones actually doing the hard work - the developers.

    Advice to Management

Geez guys get it together. Management is responsible for meeting the goals they set. If the goals aren't met, don't you think it's the managers that ought to be getting the boot?

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice people, good team work, flexible hours depending on the manager, sometimes work life balance, understanding to people's situation if there is an personal issues.

    Cons

Management sucks. They start new projects, people get excited, then they don't fund them. Well, then they fail.
My prediction is that the company is not going to exist another 10 years. They bought Samsung's Printer Division, so they are going to have some major layoffs this year and next year.
Their products are catching up with 1st tier company's products, but they are not investing, so you do the math.

    Advice to Management

You guys should not be in this business. You have no vision nor desire to succeed. You are counting years left for you to retire. But your decisions are hurting hard working employees. The are not COWS. They are real people.
