I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of nice people and have met some new friends.

    Cons

This is not the same HP it used to be. Too many lay-offs; too many company splits. Employees are treated like liabilities and not assets.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the employees we can make a company great.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Not much positive to say about this place. It was the biggest sham of my life and in hindsight glad they canned me.

    Cons

Ridiculous cultureless experience. They are dying a slow painful death and it's all there own fault

    Advice to Management

Get some passion and take risks

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work from home or now it's USED TO work from home. Vacation time for years of service.

    Cons

Former EDS'r that was acquisition-ed by HP in 2009 then split to HPE and sold (they are calling it a spin/merge) to Computer Science Corporation yet naming the company DXC. Low Pay, no advancement, little to no training. You are only a number here, nothing more. This company has laid off so many highly skilled employees they are practically giving away their talent to their competitors and customers in the name of greed and short sighted goals. I'm so glad I'm getting out.

    Advice to Management

You keep bleeding your talent you won't have a company to manage, maybe that is the plan all along . Do the company a favor and fire yourself.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good for younger candidates looking to gain some good experience. A lot of changes going on which can be productive with the right opportunities.

    Cons

Not too good for older or legacy employees a lot of new management, continuous downsizing and re organization. That results in low morale and uncertainty.

    Advice to Management

Get a growth strategy and stick to it, re-invention every quarter does not work. Employees are your assets not your quartet liability to reduce. HR and Finance can't run a company long term..

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They give you a decent salary.

    Cons

This place is toxic. It's full of rude people who are unwilling to change their ways and try new ideas. The place is literally full of people who do nothing to improve their skills - kind of ironic for a tech company, no? I worked with people here who literally thought Google Docs was "too difficult" for them... Beyond being inept, most people here are just back-stabbing, manipulative and disgustingly political. I've literally seen people cry repeatedly at their desks with no one going over to help them (and yes, it's because someone else at work was rude to them). Rather than working together, teams are territorial and selfish. Aside from salary, there's absolutely nothing redeeming about working here and you will not improve your skills - because there's no skills to be learned. You'll have to seek out education on your own outside of work if you want to remain competitive in your field. This is literally the WORST place I've ever worked at in my life. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

    Advice to Management

Start over from scratch because you guys are delusional and horrible at your jobs.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

One of the most talented group of talented individuals in the business

    Cons

The Board of Directors and C-Suite mangers run a dysfunctional company where the employees have experienced great emotional pain as the company cuts off pieces of itself to try to stay in business. They have been unable to grow the company organically and are out of ideas on how to bring green shoots out of this stagnant company. I would avoid this firm until they get a new Board and CEO who know the underlying technology and can grow the company organically. Right now, they have an aged ex-Ebay executive running the firm and she clearly needs to go.

    Advice to Management

Grandma Meg needs to retire and the Board needs to be overhauled.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The main site was in Brooklyn, NY. That meant the site I worked for (in another state) had no on-site supervision.

    Cons

Just about everything else...The organization was not thete, they rate of pay did not commiserate with the amount of work, and office politics trumped everything else. There was no professionalism, no training, etc. It was a HR nightmare!!!!

    Advice to Management

Please re-work the whole system and cut out the cancerous management. Organization and sound policies that are followed consistently help everyone. Especially employees!!! Employers forget that more often than not-you get what you pay for....Pay employees less, you get less. That includes quality of work and loyalty. That affects your bottom line.
