    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time

    Pros

Great working culture with lots of flexibility

    Cons

Downsizing which is not really bad I supposed, considering that HPE are pursuing towards the new IT business so with reducing the size of the company, they get more focus. Anyhow, it is something to think about.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Really great people
    - Good facilities
    - Opportunities to engage in activities with larger impact (volunteering, special projects, etc.)
    - Great leadership (IT in Mexico)

    Cons

    - Too much disconnection between (related) areas
    - IT impacted by lots of changes in strategy (workload, bonuses, attrition, salary revisions, WFRs...)
    - Career growth too slow
    - HR processes very bureaucratic

    Advice to Management

    - Influence support areas to change and become more agile, especially HR
    - Revise job architecture to make it simpler
    - Adopt "modern" tools (SaaS products) for common processes like reimbursing, hiring, internal communication, project management, etc

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Work itself is rewarding
    - Senior or veteran employees are mostly helpful & approachable
    - online training resources are good

    Cons

    - Managers are almost always unfit to be human being, let alone manager. Horrible personalities, zero people skill, very rude & very unpopular to all employees.
    - upper management is the same way, they maintain this culture of dominating & dictating employees with zero regards or respect. It's not your hard skills or soft skills, it's your connections that get you promotion or get you into management.
    - many 15-20-25 yr veterans were leaving the company because of this horrible treatment & disrespect by so called managers who are in power. They loved the company, but couldn't take it any more to see how the culture had gone so bad.

    Advice to Management

Fire all the managers & their managers. Focus on changing the culture so people enjoy working there with each other and as a team. Partnership is the new leadership, managers must posses soft skills to deal with people on their team. Mutual Respect is vital, because at the end all are just employees of the same company chasing a paycheck, nobody is ruler and nobody is slave, else all are slave anyway. So get your perspectives right, get off the high horse.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working from home option is nice.
HR is trying to change the culture.
HP has lots of resources when available.

    Cons

Very uncompetitive salary and it takes 3 years to get vested in the 401K. Medical/dental plan is expensive.

    Advice to Management

Need to have different environment to be innovative and attract quality people. Current manage does mother it. People working at HP are mostly there because they are complacent or cannot get employment elsewhere.
