    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company trains well and teaches its employees to respect its customers. It is always making technological advancements.
There are so many different positions available that one can master a position and then move to another role.

    Cons

It is a large organization so one could use that as a benefit or become 'one of many. It is up to the employee to find what areas he is interested in and the approach the appropriate manager to learn about openings.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work motivating employees!

Be prepared to make 1-2 big bets & then go all in. 3D printing is a good start.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time

    Pros

Depending on your position, you have some freedom in how you get your job done.

    Cons

for HPI (Printing and computers side of HP), downsizing and offshoring appears to be an ongoing activity. It can be extremely difficult to move upward in the company. Contractors almost never convert to permanent employees.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere. I really enjoyed working for the company when I first started. They allowed you to learn anything you chose. You were only hampered by what you chose to do or not do.

    Cons

As time went by our numbers were shortened (layoffs) and we worked harder for less and the learning benefits left. It became just another job. I am sure this is cyclical, but it seems as if HP forgot what made it special. I hear it is returning to what it once was, but, again, these things are cyclical and you just have to grind through the hard times. All companies go through tough times.

    Advice to Management

Remember where the company came from and how it got to what it was. Be careful of nepotism within the company. That can be good and bad, but definitely more to the bad side when dealing with a fortune 500 technology company. Some supervisors/managers need more training.
