    Pros

Salary is above normal for industry, but work-life balance sucks...you pay for that salary.

    Cons

EVERYTHING from the top down. They lose money by hiring people to head contracts BEFORE a contract is even awarded, thats how arrogant they are. Then when the contract is NOT won by HP, they terminate those hired and treat them as disposable.

    Advice to Management

The entire way of doing business needs a significant overhaul.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Being able to work at your pace, yet still work efficiently.
Being able to travel, to different locations and experience the different atmospheres in the field.

    Cons

Uninformed notice on contract end agreements. Do your research, make sure that your agency keeps you informed in any changes.

    Advice to Management

Please be more informative to your contractors/recruiters, in relaying contract ends, especially if they have been loyal to you.

    Pros

Work from home office. HP paid for home office, furniture, equipment, phone, etc.

    Cons

Carlie Fiorina. She took the company apart for her own gain, got fired for poor performance, and was paid $40M to leave. Pathetic.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work hours allows for a great work/family time balance. The pay is decent and it provides an opportunity to get some great experience.

    Cons

Some of the processes they have in place for field techs are confusing and the tempo is pretty high so there are not many training opportunities. They are highly focused on metrics so even if the job is getting done there are unrealistic expectations on meeting metrics.

    Advice to Management

A new system to track metrics should be developed so that it is user friendly. Dispatch could do a better job dispatching call so that the schedule is more manageable.
