    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    They're using some cutting-edge technology

    Cons

They love laying off hard working, knowledgeable workers. Regrettably it's to provide bonuses to management rather than the ones actually doing the hard work - the developers.

    Advice to Management

Geez guys get it together. Management is responsible for meeting the goals they set. If the goals aren't met, don't you think it's the managers that ought to be getting the boot?

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A big company, so there is generally a better job security.
Salary is competitive enough, and benefits are in par with industry.

    Cons

Company is too big, so there is not so much visibility for the employee.
Bonuses are not in par with industry. Very low compensation rate.

    Advice to Management

Increase total compensation for employees. Stop increasing the cost of health care & benefits.
Reward employees and recognize the efforts they contribute.

    Pros

Variety of opportunities due to size of the company.
    Generally interesting technology.

    Cons

Very impersonal due to size of company and culture becoming dominated by business decisions.
Actively working to reduce the age and pay rate of their workforce.

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Not much stress
    Flexible work hours
Nice people (but sometimes too friendly... many of the men get confused that the young women are actually there to work, not be hit on)

    Cons

Crazy layoffs (but this was before the split), never know when you will be next
Low pay (but you don't work very hard... so it's to be expected)
Low morale... folks kept telling me to find a new job from day one

    Advice to Management

Not enough workers, too many managers.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

    - You can leave at 5?

    Cons

    - Contractors not really given any "real" work to do. Just some BS project that'll most likely never see the light of day.
    - Every week there was an e-mail about some exec getting fired or moved to some other team
    - Not much transparency if you are a contractor.
