    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people, great technology (I was working on HP/HPE Cloud). Lots of resources to learn and grow. Great culture that sustains the company since 1939 in the fiercely competitive high tech world.

    Cons

Execution - focus and improve processes to get things done more efficiently and effectively.

I have been working at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

HP has great legacy and one of the best brand globally.

    Cons

This is really unfortunate to see lack of innovation and its business shrinking. Lay off has become name of the game here. This is the only management is finding to reduce the operational cost. They are on selling spree of various business units.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of under performing senior managers and bring fresh blood in the organization.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than a year)

    Pros

working with new technologies. learning new skills on the job. Attended free online classes from HP University

    Cons

Innovation was only welcomed in words. Being slightly less productive because of exploration of the new creative solutions was not welcome.

    Advice to Management

Have software specific people occupaing lead positions. reordering existing old times into leading roles will not change company culture of fear of loosing their job and lack of initiative

    I worked at Hewlett-Packard full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great products, strong leadership team, some flexibility in work schedule, mutual respect for team members, several career advancement opportunities, many promotions during my tenure there.

    Cons

The commissions were frequently wrong (more often too low, though sometimes too high) which created a lot of manual true-up work and frustration across the team. There also seemed to be too much focus on cost cutting vs. growth.

    Advice to Management

    1. Implement a robust compensation management system. Hire a few people to manually address compensation issues proactively until the systems work consistently.
    2. Take a more thorough approach to goal setting.
    3. Good salespeople are not a commodity. There seemed to be an over-emphasis on keeping OTEs at a certain level even if that was not competitive to hire and retain top talent. The increasing turnover in sales could have been minimized. The increase in sales from retaining top talent would outweigh the relatively small cost savings of less expensive but less effective salespeople.

    - Small team based development
    - Friendly and engaging coworkers
    - Interesting and varied work

    Cons

    - Organization feels impersonal at times
    - Tendency to outsource and downsize teams

    Advice to Management

Stop shipping jobs overseas and blaming the drop in quality on other factors.

    Pros

    - You can leave at 5?

    Cons

    - Contractors not really given any "real" work to do. Just some BS project that'll most likely never see the light of day.
    - Every week there was an e-mail about some exec getting fired or moved to some other team
    - Not much transparency if you are a contractor.

I worked at Hewlett-Packard (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great campus.
    Good people.
Huge organization, where the basic people priorities probably fall through the cracks.

    Cons

leadership is clueless / hideous about decisions.
Work force reduction - a continuous process while hiring at the same time. Don't want to invest in existing talent and do not believe in encouraging development.
lack of ownership of critical decisions.
nobody knows what is going on.
    laid back - not efficient

    Advice to Management

Please speak about matters that matter to your employees. It is not okay to say - we are doing great, when the share prices are plummeting and then lay off masses. Todays' work force is smart and need to know the reality, for what it stands - that's all.
