I have been working at Hexion full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very resourceful group of people. Very welcoming and embracing. All employees will gladly take you under their wing if you show drive to want more.

    Cons

Slowly piecing together all things needed instead of acquiring all necessities at once.

I have been working at Hexion full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Everyone is willing to help train, Union plant

    Cons

Terrible pay for the Loaders, you do similar jobs as operations. You have old operators that bid into loader jobs, kept their pay so they are getting double the pay as you doing the same exact thing. Top out is $25. OT is in spurts but has been dry for months now. Promotion to operations is VERY rare.

I worked at Hexion full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

If you enjoy poor security then this is the place for you!

    Cons

I worked a lot of years at Hexion, saved and helped make them a lot of money through innovation, and long hours. 5 years ago this was a company that rewarded that, this company is now a shell of itself. Many good people were let go, and many more I've talked to are looking to leave. This company is bleeding. 70% of profits are going to paying the interest of the debt. The whole business is for sale. If you want insecurity about your future, a company that hasn't matched 401Ks or given decent raises in 3 years, and a company that is steadily losing its identity and values work here. Gone are the good old days of Borden/ Hexion

I have been working at Hexion full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Probably one of the most-responsible companies in existence when it comes to taking pro-active steps to provide a safe and productive work-place, and environment. Corporate responsibility and execution of pro-active improvements to processes in order to ensure that the lowest-possible risk exist for any reportable incident that could impact the environment or life in any way possible. Continuous improvement efforts/opportunities are always made a priority to make safety number one. Work/Home life balance, flexibility for salaried associates when possible, clear company goals and future intentions are communicated Compensation and merit review/increases are some of the best that I have experienced in my career. They compensate talent and proven accomplishments without questions to ensure that the employee is rewarded and given reason to continue producing results Very competitive salary and compensation package, with ample opportunity for growth if desired. The company continues to invest in future growth and opportunity while balancing the actions needed for change in order to achieve that goal

    Cons

Health Insurance options could be better (probably one of the least-desirable benefits that are available through the company) - similar organizations throughout the local community offer much-better plans, coverage and at a lower cost to the associate and can prove to be the determining factor when competitors recruit valuable talent away from the company, Goals of company path forward are to be determined, hanging in the balance, and have left those that work for the company with a feeling of uncertainty. The manufacturing facilities are understaffed due to recent company re-organization which has many production associates challenged by long-hours and the lingering negative moral that tend to come with work-force reductions. Although necessary for the business, these events tend to leave lingering negativity and result in a loss of knowledge, experience, and a threat of available talent leaving the company for a more-stable or certain future path with another company.
