I have been working at Hexion full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Probably one of the most-responsible companies in existence when it comes to taking pro-active steps to provide a safe and productive work-place, and environment.
Corporate responsibility and execution of pro-active improvements to processes in order to ensure that the lowest-possible risk exist for any reportable incident that could impact the environment or life in any way possible.
Continuous improvement efforts/opportunities are always made a priority to make safety number one.
Work/Home life balance, flexibility for salaried associates when possible, clear company goals and future intentions are communicated
Compensation and merit review/increases are some of the best that I have experienced in my career. They compensate talent and proven accomplishments without questions to ensure that the employee is rewarded and given reason to continue producing results
Very competitive salary and compensation package, with ample opportunity for growth if desired.
The company continues to invest in future growth and opportunity while balancing the actions needed for change in order to achieve that goal

    Cons

Health Insurance options could be better (probably one of the least-desirable benefits that are available through the company) - similar organizations throughout the local community offer much-better plans, coverage and at a lower cost to the associate and can prove to be the determining factor when competitors recruit valuable talent away from the company,

Goals of company path forward are to be determined, hanging in the balance, and have left those that work for the company with a feeling of uncertainty.
The manufacturing facilities are understaffed due to recent company re-organization which has many production associates challenged by long-hours and the lingering negative moral that tend to come with work-force reductions.
Although necessary for the business, these events tend to leave lingering negativity and result in a loss of knowledge, experience, and a threat of available talent leaving the company for a more-stable or certain future path with another company.

    Advice to Management

The individual location management teams are aware of and working to improve overall moral, and are attentive to the needs that are expressed. Constantly working to provide improvement, ensuring that safety is the priority at all times, and still working to meet the overall targets or goals, but more-support from the executive team and investors would help to improve those efforts.
The global management (executive - corporate level) are working toward resolutions that will improve the overall future path of the company - that being said, the communication related to this effort is lacking and if improved, would help tremendously at the individual location level management efforts to improve the day-to-day efforts and staff expectations/moral, which in-turn, would most-likely improve the overall performance of each individual production facility.

    Pros

CORPORATE CULTURE is better than any I've experienced in my 30+ years, Amazing PEOPLE from top to bottom with many veterans with the company more than 20 years, COMMUNITY Involvement through many different avenues, Managers demonstrate TRUST in employees, SAFETY is a proven priority, FLEXIBILITY in work schedule, management has been as TRANSPARENT as possible during restructuring

    Cons

Recent restructuring has everyone a bit uneasy, hopefully the outcome will strengthen confidence again.

Continue to discuss the upcoming changes and reassure those that you truly believe have a future with the company to hang in .

    I worked at Hexion full-time

    Pros

It is a very lean company so you will have opportunities to learn things outside the scope of your role

    Cons

    - very lean that you end up working the jobs for 3-4 people because of high turnover
    - sometimes leaders don’t see that you are working too much already but still ask you to constantly redo work to fit their wants
    - benefits are terrible
    - too much debt that you do things that are non value add but absolutely necessary to keep the operations running
    - training is non-existent and systems are old. Rely too much on excel spreadsheet.

I have been working at Hexion full-time

    Pros

The business will soon be dead and all of the pain will stop.

    Cons

We will all be out of a job soon! We are on the titanic and there are no more life boats.

    Advice to Management

The decisions you made to save yourselves will not overcome the emptiness inside that you feel from the friendships and respect you have lost!

I worked at Hexion full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lean company with opportunities to get exposure to and involvement in a broader scope of activities/responsibilities.
Lots of camaraderie and teamwork in the field.

    Cons

Corporate is disconnected from the field organizations.
    Very unstable culturally.
Cliques and Politics rule......it's not what results you achieve, it's who you know and whose toes you did or did not step on. If you're in the right Clique, you're untouchable. If you're not, look over your shoulder at all times because your time is coming to an end soon.

    Advice to Management

You cannot expect loyalty from your staff when you do not reciprocate in kind.
Don't make judgments without all of the facts.
Learn to accept constructive feedback and/or pushback without retaliating against the person who is doing what they believe is the right thing.
Walk the Talk. Otherwise everything you say is just words without substance or meaning.

I have been working at Hexion full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Hexion is a great place to work with awesome people. There is never a dull moment so you don't lack for things to do. The company cares about their employees and makes an effort to prove that. Safety is also a key priority here.

    Cons

The company is going through some corporate restructuring but employees are being communicated to open and honestly about the process. Hexion is lean...however that provides employees with the opportunity to work on several things and gain a lot of experience.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for doing a great job steering us into the future.
