I have been working at Hibbett Sports part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

get to learn about selling sports equipment. meet new people. learn about different types of shoes.

    Cons

All the employees and managers are two-faced. The store manager has favors for looks and not achievements. it is a terrible company to work for. You can try your hardest to make the company better and they don't care. the company is trying to hire a lot of new young kids 18-20 to take over when the older people that have been there for a long time are being let go.

    Advice to Management

stop trying to be like every other sports store

Some people didn't take the job seriously of slacked off way too much. It was not the best thing in the world cleaning up after certain people.

    Advice to Management

Keep the employees in check. I had never a problem with the management. I liked their way of doing thing. Some of the management in the store deserve a lot of praise for there work with the resources available.

I worked at Hibbett Sports part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I worked with made going to work enjoyable. I had another full-time job, so for the last two years of employment I worked one - two days a week and then much more during holidays and back to school. My boss was extremely flexible for me and all other employees. He did not discriminate and I consider him a long-time friend.

    Cons

Strict rules with the company; during my last month or so the dress code changed. It's not hard to be in dress code, however only a particular color of socks are allowed to be worn. When it's not holiday or back to school time, hours can be very low.

    Advice to Management

Have unbiased trained Assistant Coaches who can be available as much as possible on particular slow days to be free on busier days. Every one needs personal time to recuperate; I believe a job that can be stressful for Head Coaches, they should get their time off as well.

I worked at Hibbett Sports part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a potentially easy job as long as management likes you. You also get an employee discount which is nice if you like what they sell.

    Cons

Management can be immature and hypocritical about the rules. Hibbett doesn't seem to care much about their employees unless you are higher up on the totem pole. Raises are rare and pay is low. There is no commission. Your pay and hours are a result of your sales stats, yet since there is no commission none of the sales people respect each others' sales and will steal them from you. Management does nothing about this. You are supposed to keep your sales dollars and stats high, but management will make you work on projects, that is supposed to be their main job, that keep you away from customers and make it hard to achieve your sales goals. Hours are hard to come by, especially if management has a personal grudge against you.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be more mature about how they handle all situations and leave their personal problems at home. Quarreling and bickering often occur between associates because of lack of proper management. Associates should be more appreciated and their goals should be more realistic based on pay and lack of rewards.
