I worked at Higher One (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only redeeming quality this company had was that you could work from home. The training was fair and that's about all.

    Cons

This company was out to make money for itself, no matter what. They had no concern or desire to provide anything like a good work environment. It was a constant beating down of the customer service department, no pleasing the reviews who nit picked every little thing an agent did when taking calls. They finally moved their operation to the Phillipines . Con describes them perfectly.

    Advice to Management

Get another job, this company is crooked and can't last much longer.

    Pros

It was fun part-time work. The compensation was fair for type of job. Tech support was good. Good training. They were good to work around my school schedule.

    Cons

Company decided to outsource the customer service department, which was their one strong suit. They offered a bonus for staying until previously agreed upon time, then changed the time.

    Advice to Management

Customers commented on how nice it was to speak to an American. Now they have trouble just making themselves understood and understanding the CSA. Good idea if you want to discourage customers from calling, I guess.

    Pros

The company is good. You are able to work from home which is awesome. Monday thru Friday and weekends off.

    Cons

Many different platforms to use. I was able to balance and maintain from my past work experience but for some people they may get frustrated.

    Advice to Management

Maybe weekly meetings for new hires to make sure they truly understand the job.

I have been working at Higher One part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work from home, support team, resources, flexibility. OK pay for what your doing.

    Cons

Only twenty hours of training before you are put on the phones. Hours spent sitting and if you get up it impacts your adherence score.

    Advice to Management

For those on phones for hours on end I would suggest incorporating breaks so people can get up and stretch their legs.
