    Pros

"Horrible training for work at home agents."

I worked at Higher One part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Hiring process was seamless. Pay is pretty good for a virtual position.

    Cons

TRAIN employees with a mock system. You cannot expect us to take live calls and know what we are doing with the current training --which was just simply reading. "Training" was a pathetic joke. Trainers not very helpful when asking for help in chat. Training should be an online class, dialed in on a bridge line where we can talk and ask questions. I cannot express how stupid this training was.

    Advice to Management

Your training for at home agents needs a total revamp.

    Pros

Good interview and nothing else. That is about it.

    Cons

I send them paperwork to Human Resources. They say take it back to send it back to get notary and couldn't work start date. When I return it back to them again, they said job abandonment. They waste time giving the run around.I wasn't stressed over it. It was a waste of time and printing to send paperwork.

    Advice to Management

Human Resources need to communicate better to potential employees instead of giving them the run around.

    Pros

Depending on your role, you might be doing good work.
Healthy Lunch and nice office with lots of space.
Smart people in IT but not sure how many are really planning to stay.

    Cons

Looming regulatory concerns. They might have to shutdown their once bread and butter "One Disburse" line and rely on cashnet side.
Losing talent by a dozen every month.
    Extremely dissatisfied employee morale.
The bonus promised unofficially is never ever paid out or with a deep 60-70% cut. The HR will explain it in words which will make no sense.
Just do a google search to see how much deep trouble the company is in.
     Lay-offs in Feb 2015 and in 2013.
be happy if the salary hike is able to cover your HBO channel.
Closed down Atlanta office and sub leased as they could not cover operating expenses.
    Deep deep trouble financially.

    Advice to Management

    N.A.

only give 15 min for lunch break, seasonal work, very nit picky and QA will quickly add you to a point list. once u acquire 3 points or occurrences u will get fired. they are very unreasonable. no real supervisor and the company does not care for workers.

    Advice to Management

Be more human and care for workers. without us u will not have a company. show more respect and get rid of point system.

I worked at Higher One full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Medical benefits were okay. I am hard pressed to think of anything else to say that was positive about working here.

    Cons

Like many others at the company, I was let go and no reason was given. This happened to several other managers and employees prior to me but I was still shocked. The Quality Assurance department wound up taking over Customer Service and ran it into the ground with their monitoring of phone calls. People were on final warnings or terminated for saying the word need instead of want. Call could have been great in every other way but call failed if a certain word or phrase was used. QA had the final say even over managers. The place felt like Revenge of the Nerds as it seemed social misfits had taken over and were getting their revenge on everyone.
Callers were beyond irate as the company behaved very unethically. College students would get financial aid refunds in the form of a MasterCard branded debit card. It worked like an instant checking account once you activated the card, which was the only way you could get your refund. Of course, you have to pay this refund back to the government at some point.
What was deceptive and unethical is that these students were hit with fees for everything. Some poor students wound up owing the company thousands of dollars in over limit fees. Hopefully the government closes up this fraudulent operation soon

    Advice to Management

You really need to look at the QA department and contain them as they run rampant and rule the customer service area. You also need to curb the excessive amount of fees charged. You run the risk of getting shut down by the government due to these practices.

I have been working at Higher One part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

home based work, used to be pleasant job, immediate supervisors very polite and professional

    Cons

sold call center to off shore company, 334 Americans out of work by the end of the year. QA is ridiculous with their pickiness on what and how every word is said. A bonus is promised if you don't quit before your scheduled last day and you have to follow all their requirements to the T or you are quickly terminated at their will with no reason putting employees in a catch 22 and under pressure until their last day. It looks like they are trying to find a reason to terminate people who are staying until the end so they don't have to pay the bonus. Customers are complaining more and more about talking to someone who doesn't speak English, hold times are 20 min or more, calls are being routed to the wrong departments. Low employee morale due to upper management's reorganization decisions to make more money for the company.

    Advice to Management

Americans need jobs too. Now there are 334 Americans without work. You refuse to give information for home based jobs before employees ending date so they won't quit guaranteeing you will have an employee until you decide when to terminate them. These Americans have bills to pay, jobs are hard to find, some of your home based employees can only work from home due to a disability or being older and can't fin any other type of work, yet you play mind games with them until the end. You have no regard for the Americans you put out of work. Rethink your American values.

    Pros

The company was amazing when it was young and small and not public. Then it all went downhill.

    Cons

Awful management who are pushing people out left and right. Unless you're currently unemployed, don't ever leave a job to come here.

I worked at Higher One (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The only redeeming quality this company had was that you could work from home. The training was fair and that's about all.

    Cons

This company was out to make money for itself, no matter what. They had no concern or desire to provide anything like a good work environment. It was a constant beating down of the customer service department, no pleasing the reviews who nit picked every little thing an agent did when taking calls. They finally moved their operation to the Phillipines . Con describes them perfectly.

    Advice to Management

Get another job, this company is crooked and can't last much longer.
